Everton hopeful of finally offloading Yobo

18/05/2012 | Comments (22)
David Moyes is hoping he'll be able to sell Joseph Yobo this summer, with reports saying there are more potential suitors for the Nigerian than just Fenerbahce, who have first option on him after loaning him for the past two seasons.

The defender has been good form for the Turks this season and his value is said to be around £3m to £4m. He has two years to run on his Everton contract making this the ideal time to sell him seeing as Moyes has little intention of retaining him in his squad.

The player has just been ruled out for a month through injury and will miss Nigeria's AFCON qualifiers.

Would be a huge bonus if we could get 3-4m for him. Cover the Pienaar signing hopefully!

Call his (or his agents) bluff this time and say if you cant find yourself a club willing to pay your wages, come and sit in our reserves for a year.......bet he finds a club quite quickly then.

Fenerbache have took the mick for two years.

I'd give them until the Euro's start to complete the deal or he's being offered to Gala for buttons.

That would seriously put the cat amongst the pidgeons.

Anyone know why Moyes wont have him back? I don't remember what he was meant to have done in the first place to get shipped out.

Wasn't the most consistent performer, but if we were to sell one of the other centre backs he'd be very useful to have around.

Everton supporters: "Wouldn't it be great if we got 4 million for Yobo!"

Feller from Barclays: "Yes...but what's this 'we' shit?"

My money would be on a third season-long loan.

Stupid Turkish club - no money to spend and relying on taking the piss with loans. Not something you'd find around these parts...

Might be wrong here but I seem to recall it was due to Yobo going off to play for Nigeria, against Moyes wishes, whilst nursing a hamstring injury?

John,

It was suggested he refused to play against Benfica due to a head injury when we got snotted. He then played for Nigeria a few days later.

Also might have something to do with the fact that he's more gaffe prone than Frank Spencer and possesses the positional sense of Rod Hull on a roof.

Finally somebody at the club realises the fact you dont have to sell one player to just one club (not counting Pienaar obviously).

Surely clubs like QPR, West Brom, Stoke, Wigan would be interested in Yobo for £3 million?

Will people want him if he's crocked at the mo? I know its only a month but it may be enough to put other clubs off.

In an ideal world, we would sell Yobo and the funds would go directly to fund Steven Pienaar's permanent return......However, this is Everton, so it doesn't quite work like that!

I don't care about signing anyone else, if we retain the current playing squad and sign Stevie P, I'll regard it as a good summer.

Saw this at: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Everton-exodus-continues-as-Joseph-Yobo-quits-for-Fenerbahce-article795391.html dated Sep 2011

"Fenerbahce are picking up Yobo?s £50,000-a-week wages and paying a £750,000 rental fee to take the cultured centre half for the season.

Kenwright originally wanted a fee for Yobo, who was on loan at Fener for the previous campaign. However the club is unable to commit because of their current fight against match-fixing charges."

Can anyone confirm this was the case regarding his wages/rental fee(!?!)?

"Ideal time to sell him" wouldn't that have been about 2 years ago?
