Annual Araz around?

 Comments (7) jump to end

It's August again and about this time of year, when we are scratching around for Bosmans with ruptured ligaments, we eventually ask ourselves: Where's Araz Abdullayev, the Azerbaijani wonderkid?

Has he had enough caps to get a work permit yet? Are Azerbaijan anywhere near getting into the European Union? Did he compete in the Olympics and steal away during the night to Merseyside in the search for political asylum and Premier League minutes?

Any update would be most welcome...

We only have a first option to buy, he is not ours.

He'll spend four years floating around the reserves, get pissed off and sign for a third division club in Luxemburg. Give him a bell Drew and tell him not to bother. The poor bastard would probably be expected to pay for his own flights just to get here anyway. He would have to make his own way to training, only to be asked why he didn't bring his own training kit and boots with him.

No we've bought him Mike. He is on loan in Greece.

Just seen that one James... strange one for me, surprised Moyes will let him go away and train?

I can't believe it's the Charity Shield on Sunday... time flies.

Correction: He WAS on loan in Greece. We have no word whether that loan will be extended into the new 2012 season. This time last year he trained with the squad during pre-season but looks like he hasn't had a look in this year. I don't think he is getting games for his national team either so nothing to do here. I doubt he'll ever play for us.

He is 20 and even YouTube can't make him look any better than McFadden.

Moyes does take a few punts and one day, one will come off, but this kid will be another one to sink without a trace.
