My god, surely this can't be true? Can this clown Kenwright take us any lower? Let's just change our name now to Man Utd Cast-Offs FC and put us all out of our fucking misery.
Rob Williamson

Even worse! Pulis is leaving Stoke. If Kenwright meant what he said about us being an 'industrial' team, then surely Pulis is a shoe-in! Nurse!

Bill "You go to Stoke and we will take Pullis"
Pip "Are you sure"
Bill "Yes I know it will make the fans happy, I know what they want"
Pip "Oh, OK"......

The whole things a joke! The fans are being treated like idiots (unfortunately a lot of fans are swallowing this) & the rich men of football who are funded by me & you are left looking stupid.

1) This wasn't an overnight thing. Plans at OT will have been in the making since December, if not before.

2) DM will have got the nod well before the announcement. You know, the contract stalling.

3) Neville being out since the Wigan debacle was nothing more than damage limitation. How can the incoming manager still have "boos" ringing in his ears from the previous season?

4) Last home game. Neville paraded with DM & Tim Cahill (for the feel-good factor) looking every bit, suited & booted, the next EFC manager.

I'm no DM fan but the "structure" in place will be quickly dismantled by someone with no Premier League management or management experience full stop. And with a no marque manager at the helm which top players will we attract? Oh Man Utd cast-offs, loanees etc..

It's a conspiracy I tells ya! Seriously though. If you take all that is preached as gospel, you'll not see past the bullshit!

Bill: 'Hi Pip. What are you wearing?'
Pip: 'Just a training bib'
Bill: 'Is it a dirty training bib?'
Pip: 'It's filthy'
Bill: 'I-I-I-INDUSTRIAL!'

Bill - "Is that David? "
Pip - No guv - he's away on business.
Bill "what time will he be back"?
Pip "He didn't say guv"
Bill "but he will be back before the season starts won't he?"
Pip "Don' think so Bill, he's going on Holiday on Friday and then he's got to plan for next season"
Bill "But we've done all our planning for next season I only spoke with him on Sunday, he never mentioned any holiday's - Where's he going?- Camping again in North Wales"
Pip "Don't know Bill, I'm off myself tomorrow -
Bill "Who's looking after the Farm then?"
Pip "I don't know - I thought you were handling it all"
A twenty minute period of silence followed by loud wailing from BK as he realises what's happening.....

FFS! That gobshite Kenwright wants a yes man when we need someone with balls to push on and takes us to the next level. We will only go backwards under Kenwright, and willlend up looking for someone to get us back to where we are. Fucking pointless, putting Neville in.

I know nothing is guaranteed but I am pretty sure Nev only has his UEFA B badge. To manage in the Prem you must have your Pro.

I believe that you can manage a club as caretaker without the Pro badge for 12 weeks, which might suit Dunc who has his A badge and is already working towards his Pro, but it would be unlikely that Nev can do his A badge and his Pro in 12 weeks.

Much more likely that he will be assistant to somebody else.

Mike Clinton
857 Posted 21/05/2013 at 17:39:36
With Moysey leaving, he will most likely take Jimmy Lumsden — which means we will have an opening for a first team coach which we didn't have two weeks ago to offer??? This way we keep a great pro, and someone who knows the club, the players, the previous vision to aid whoever comes in.

I reckon BK just wants to keep Neville at the club because of the positive aspects he brings off the pitch but didn't have the opportunity before. And it's better we get him than let him take that drive, to get experience and ambition to another club. I for one would love to see him stay; he is a big part of the club... but I agree — it's too soon for him to be manager.

I'd accept Neville. I think people are getting carried away with him as a playervrather than his charecter. He's driven, dedicted and hard working. He's been schooled under Ferguson and Moyes.
On the basis that our real issue (charlatan of a Chairman) isn't going, I think Neville would be a good choice.

Phil Neville currently has only a UEFA "B" coaching licence. He does not have the UEFA pro licence he would need to manage a Premiership Club. The best he could hope for would be a coaching staff job. Calm down girls.
Kevin Byrne
017 Posted 21/05/2013 at 21:14:30
I agree with Neil Humphries, there's no way BK is going to pay for any person with the proper credentials, and anyone who thinks differently has not been tuned in over the last 11 years. As we say in Ireland, BK is as tight as a nun's knickers.

At least Nev is committed to the cause, he's been around the block, and he's won an odd thing. I would give him a chance with Stubbs or Dunc on his shoulder.

ps: Southall is absolutely right: if it had been done in January, we would probably have been in the Champions League next season — we were as good as Spurs or Wenger's whiners.

Been loads'a money for Pereira tonight, 3/1 in places but generally around 6's.

Just shows, no-one has a jar of glue who is on for the job. As soon as someone becomes long odds-on we will have a serious indication who has the job, until then, keep guessing!

No matter what name is put forward someone will come forward and support it. Pip has never managed any club why should he get to find out if he is any good by having a play with us the 6th best team in the country and probably fucking us up. I don't know which is giving me more anxiety the board making a decision or the board listening to the fans.

Pereira's getting money on him because some Estate agent in Liverpool has been tasked to look for homes in Formby for him... I assume this would be a precaution for anyone going for a job interview abroad?

Even the TW poll was widely split on who can take us forward. Moyes has (IMO) made this job a bit of a poisoned chalice. There is an expectation that we will finish 'best of the rest' as a minimum, and challenge for the CL. All without a budget. If a manager gets it right and gets us into the CL considering the finances available to those above us, then he will win LMA's, of that there is no doubt. Winning titles is beyond comprehension. However, If they get it wrong, all the foundations that took years to build will unravel and it will be the fault of the new manager.

I think this is why Kenwright will go for continuity, and someone of the same mould. If we take a 'gamble' on an exotic name and it doesn't work out, we are screwed. Mainly because, how would we sack him? We don't have the money to pay the compo. We would be stuck with whoever it is. Can we afford to gamble? Or can we afford not to? Its not a decision I would like to make, thats for sure.

Vitor Perreira's down from 33/1 to 4/1.Quite steep. There are new second and third favourites every day, could be one of many who we appoint!
David Finney
057 Posted 21/05/2013 at 22:49:44
Dan #42 in what universe is someone who has NEVER managed less of a risk than an experienced manager with a good track record whether that be exotic or not? You are right that no-one knows what the future holds. Pip maybe the next Mourinho but a manager with a proven track record is less of a risk than a complete unknown for obvious reasons.

I read that he had a meeting in London with a Prem League club in the top half of the table. Well you never know as Kenwright does reside in London, maybe he is doing the right thing? Not getting my hopes up like but you never know.

094 Posted 22/05/2013 at 01:08:39
For me it still has to be Vitor Pereira. Perhaps BK should nip down to the bookies with the TV monies, he could sort the debt out , albeit, now I think about it , he would have to make sure he had got his man first. He couldn't cock that up could he?
Steve Edwards
098 Posted 22/05/2013 at 01:17:58
All the Moyes out brigade take note, you've now bought a lottery ticket. Whoever comes in is a gamble so start chewing your finger nails now. Big name or somebody with no experience it's going to be a gamble. Ferguson retiring and Moyes taking over for them is a gamble. Just because he did a decent job at Everton dosn't mean he will be able to do what whiskey nose did. You have your lottery ticket now so keep your fingers crossed.
Jack Okell
099 Posted 22/05/2013 at 01:47:54
Don't think you can really scrutinise any people that wanted Moyes out now Steve. It's happened and was planned for quite some time. We're all in the same boat now. I didn't particularly want Moyes out but I'm also slightly happy a fresh bit of excitement has been injected in the club.

If Kenwright appoints Neville I reckon I will chin him though.

Bob Parrington
103 Posted 22/05/2013 at 02:14:12
This must be a bookies dream. heard that Klinsman and the Spanish Waiter are now shortening in the odds, too.

Ref Neville/Stubbs/Weir/Ferguson/Cahill etc ------- Not sure where I am going with this but didn't the dark side have their most successful years when they arranged succession from within - Shankly, Paisley, Dalgleish etc?

Patrick Murphy
104 Posted 22/05/2013 at 02:29:20
I'm really really hoping that all this Neville business is a smoke-screen but given the history of BK I think it more likely to happen than not.

Patrick Murphy
105 Posted 22/05/2013 at 02:38:35
Bob they had decades of experience between them and the financial implications were not as high risk as they are today. We have not a single member of staff who has the experience necessary to run a major football club. It's not saying much for Moyes if his replacement comes from somebody inside the club.

The more I think about it the more I think we are leaving the door open for a return of the 'chosen one' if it all goes pear shaped at OT. This is a ridiculous notion on the surface but you couldn't honestly rule it out, seeing as how our Chairman behaves.

Ernie Baywood
108 Posted 22/05/2013 at 02:48:13
It's going to be internal. The odds swinging like they are tells me that no-one external to the club knows what's going on. If we had approached any club the someone would have blabbed it - Chairman, Manager, secretary, someone. The control over the strategy can only mean that we're not going external.

Note that there hasn't exactly been a heap of rumour about Phil's next club as a player has there? He's not looking either!

Patrick Murphy
111 Posted 22/05/2013 at 03:12:56
The Irish Examiner are reporting that Martin O’Neill is in the running

The Derry man is highly regarded for his ability to deliver on tight budgets, which impresses Everton chairman Bill Wainwright given the Toffees’ funding constraints.

O’Neill is also fondly remembered at Aston Villa, having guided them to three consecutive sixth place finishes. Former Everton striker Gary Lineker has already backed O’Neill as the best fit to replace Moyes.

Who is this guy in charge Bill Wainwright? I wonder if he has a shed load of money?

Ernie Baywood
116 Posted 22/05/2013 at 03:58:40
That's a quality article. The Chairmanship name wrong and a claim that O'Neill can deliver on tight budgets. He's the exact opposite - he wants to throw money around gets the hump when questioned about the Shute teams he produces.

Of all the options mooted, he's on a par with Hughes for me.

Brilliant, people are already baying for Neville's blood and he hasn't even got the job yet to my knowledge. If he gets it, give him a chance, if he fucks up then bay away.

Neville would be wholly inappropriate.

Slav with Dunc as his number two if BK wants ex-Evertonians.

Stuart Gray
191 Posted 22/05/2013 at 09:23:06
Vitor Pereira has come right down in the odds now and is second favourite. I'm not sure I understand the clamour for him. In many ways he's less experienced than Neville and would be a huge risk. His record isn't brilliant. He did well to take over AVB's successful team. that's pretty much it.

Remember when Christian Gross came over here with a great record abroad and messed up Spurs. I do think this would be a bigger risk than a lot of appointments because he has no experience of English football and no experience of coaching in an English environment (something Pip does have).

Just because Mourinho has been brilliant, doesn't mean they all are. And just because Pereira talks a good game, doesn't mean his up to the job.

Chris Keightley

Have you not read the posts some of you ...........Neville does not have the required license to manage in the Prem .......there done, get over yourselves !!!!
Andy Walker
206 Posted 22/05/2013 at 10:01:17
I'm having problems trying to understand all this vitriol against Phil Neville, just because he played under David Moyes doesn't mean he would manage a team in the same way. If you insist that a younger manager will follow his predecessor's mantra wouldn't that also rule Duncan out as well?

I'd much sooner have P Neville than Neville S in charge, as much as I loved the binman, to have him in charge? Behave yourselves, we might as well bring Terry Darracott for another go or Howard Mk 4,

To add to Andy 206's point, my two lads are Palace fans and I was watching the Eagles history DVD last night - now that's the way to produce a history. Very candid stuff, no punches pulled on the various financial fuck-ups that have haunted Selhurst, even to the extent that the administrator is interviewed.
I digress - Dougie Freedman makes the point that most former players-turned-managers take about 10% of their former playing style into the manager's office. Fans expect that if you were banging them in as a player that will reflect on your team's style. No so, says Freedman. A bit obvious, perhaps, but something to dwell on should P Nev (who's no mug) get the job.
And we may not have the proverbial pot to piss in but at least BK hasn't borrowed from hedge fund managers to keep the club afloat at 17% int. Well, I hope he hasn't.
