Everton signed Czech teenager Jindrich Stanek from Sparta Prague as a 17-year-old who joined for an undisclosed fee under a 2½-year contract at Goodison Park. Stanek hadn't made any appearances at senior level but had represented the Czech Republic Under-19s.
Coming in the middle of the seasoin, there was no scope for him to play for the Under-18s where Mateusz Hewelt was the established understudy to Russell Griffiths as they went on to win the U18s Championship. But he did get a couple of games for the U21s in his first season.
He didn't do much better in his second season, starting only a handfull of games for the U18s and the U21s, including a bizarre performance in the first game of the season against Leicester where could only slice Ledson's awkward backpass into his own net before getting into trouble dribbling in his own area and then hacking an opponent down trying to rescue the situation.
His third season at Everton was even worse, with just three games for the U21s ― sitting on the bench. It came as no surprise when he was allowed to leave as his contract expired at the end of 2015-16. Another bizarre foreign import who failed to make the grade.
