Match Summary

The second pre-season runaround for the lads came as the final fling on their Austrian training camp jaunt.   David Moyes cycled through the squad, giving the senior members and internationals a chance to do their thing this time.

The opposition was a little tougher than last night at Bad Goisern, with this team from Schwanenstadt sitting three divisions higher, in the Austrian league.  Richard Wright was still out injured, but Duncan Ferguson, and Tomas Radzinski appeared fit, with the Polish Canadian opening his account early in the game.

Rooney came on in the second half after a Schwan player had put the ball into his own net, and he set up Watson for the third.  But then the boy got into a fight, got himself booked and was withdrawn to preserve the peace.

Once again, Nyarko and Pascucci were second half substitutes, and nothing would keep the young Lazio player from getting his name on the scoresheet again.

Report

Steve Milne

A few more than last night in the ground for tonight's game, a good couple of thousand, most had come to see Rooney as the local press has been building up the game.

With in the first minute Kevin McLeod hit the post, strong shot from 30 yards out.

10' Radzinski forces the keeper into a full diving stretch save; Yobo with the pass a full 25 yards.  Radzinski controlled the ball first time, forcing a corner.

11' Simonsen with his first and only real test, a save from distance; on target but saved with ease.

15' Gravesen, still looking wild, shoots from 35 yards, on target.

32' 1-0 Radzinski.  The goal was coming, Gravesen was involved in the build up, a thru ball into the edge of the box, Radzinski controlled the ball, looked up, saw the keeper off his line, and calmly lobed the ball over him as he came out further.

38' 2-0 A Feichtinger (Own Goal).  Radzinski with a deep cross hard and low, it was aimed at Dunc, the defender stuck his foot out trying to clear the ball, only to see in fly into the back of the net.

Half time: SC Schwan 0 - 2 Everton

45' On Li Tie; Off Gravesen (before he was asked to leave for a few rash Gravesen-type tackles)

54' Yellow for Li Tie

58' On Rooney; off Ferguson.

59' 3-0 Watson.  With his first touch Rooney laid the ball from the right of midfield, Radzinski challenging the defender, he came off better the defender fell on the floor over the ball, with Watson in the better scoring position, Radzinski laid the ball in his path, all Watson had to do was side-foot the ball past the keeper.

68' On Pascucci; off Radzinski.

70' Rooney has a bit of a handbags at 10 paces that ended up with a bit of pushing and shoving did not look to good.

71' Yellow for Rooney

73' 3-1 Tichy.  Free kick from the right, the Everton defence failed to clear the ball, Simonsen half-cleared it but Tichy hit the lose ball, Simonsen had no chance second time around.

74' On Osman; off Rooney

81' 4-1 Pascucci.  The 17-year-old had done well in the two games I have seen him play in.  Tonight's 4th goal was a solo effort, he ran in from the left, took on the defenders, and shot across the front of goal; it ended up in the bottom right corner of the net.
