Warburton laughs off Everton talk

Rangers boss Mark Warburton has dismissed speculation linking him with a potential vacancy at Everton.

The ex-Brentford man has just secured Rangers' return to the top flight in Scotland and is preparing for the Scottish Cup Final after knocking Celtic out in the semi-finals.

The prowess he has showed at Ibrox and at Griffin Park means he is now one of the first names to be linked with a return to manage in England.

The 53-year-old scoffed at the suggestion he is being lined up for the role at Goodison Park, however. “Who is it this time? I can't stop [the talk]. It will be Barcelona and Real Madrid next. The only time you get linked to big clubs is when the players are doing well. It's as simple as that."

Correct. When a club succeeds, it is when the players "are doing well". Nothing to do with the manager.

When a club is not doing too well, it is because of the manager. Nothing to do with the players.

Ask Martinez.

He's done well for the Gers and Brentford, and he looks a good British manager, but the next appointment needs to be a be a name manager, like Koeman, De Boar or Pellegrini who's name is respected and will be able to attract top players. I don't think Warburton will unless he does more adverts on the telly with Rocky. No, we need a top name and Moshiri to pay better wages because we're not going to bring in quality players off our league standing.

"Everton laugh off Warburton talk"

Seems a decent bloke but fuck me we need to aim higher.

We shoudn't have any speculation at all until this spineless board get shut of the football fraud.

I don't believe I have ever witnessed a premier league manager who makes a twat of himself on a daily basis, citing all the blame on his teams misfortunes by refereeing decisions, fine margins,2nd half performance's,playing great for 78 minutes, wanky philosophy etc etc yawn fkn yawn.

RM is somehow the manager of Everton football club, how the fuck has this been allowed to happen. There should be a stewards enquiry into how he got his badges.

Fast forward next season if this twat is still in charge of our club, bottom 3 guaranteed from November onwards.

I am still in shock after reading his interview with Carragher in the mail on Friday. He was actually cocky & bullish in his belief how football should be played.I am convinced he is ill.

Wake me up in December with some good news that this Charlaton has fucked off.

Tony, I also read the interview. Bizarre thoughts. I think Carragher was expecting those responses from Martinez.

However, I think his comments were misrepresented in the press and we can ignore them.

Someone needs to apologise :)

No no no no NO.

No more managers or players from the Scottish league thanks very much.

I could successfully manage a team up there these days in a league that's got the competitive nature and quality of the Icelandic league.

NO!!!

He is laughing off being linked with us? I am laughing that we are being linked with HIM to be honest. Stick to baking your bread, Mark, EFC will use their loaf and find the right man. By the way, thank fook we are staying up!!!!!!!

There's no way Chairman Bill would employ Warburton: he's a qualified accountant, and would certainly want to know where the Arteta money went

Whilst I think maybe RM will go at the end of the season I do think it very disrespectful that the media are talking to other managers about taking over at Everton when RM hasn't gone. I've never been a massive RM fan but still there should be some etiquette.

Stu. Media and etiquette go together like weetabix and tomato ketchup.

(For real I knew someone who actually ate weetabix and ketchup)

Stu (11) I agree, but they are journalists and they won't be very happy about not knowing what is going to happen at Everton. They are doing the old fishing for stories trick, if Everton deny or confirm any of their guesswork they have a whole new avenue to exploit and the silence from the inner sanctum would suggest that the board are seriously considering the managers future but they too may be playing a waiting game for financial reasons or waiting for their preferred choice to become available. Whatever happens we have to hope that it turns out the right way for all involved with Everton FC. It's better to wait and get the best solution than to rush into what will be a very crucial decision for the club in the long-term.

Unbelievable!!

Scottish football is just terrible and we should definitely be raising our sights higher than looking for a manager from the Scottish leagues.

Poor and lazy journalism at best.

If it was up to me to pick our next manager I would be struggling to know who to select. I wonder what the Leicester City equivalent of ToffeeWeb was like last summer after the appointment of Claudio Ranieri? I am sure it was less than overwhelmed. Yet this calm resolute man has instilled a belief and confidence in a group of players that has brought him his just rewards.

Management is so much more these days and we need someone who will inspire these young men to bond as one, not hang them out to dry a la Baines. When things do not go their way, Simeone & Mourinho will resort to tactics that conflict with the Everton way that I was brought up on. Pellegrini is a possible choice I would subscribe too but one things for certain, definitely not Martinez!!

Warburton did good work at Brentford he took them from the bottom end of league one promoted in one season and got to the play offs in the championship the following season. Then when management wanted to over rule him and change the transfer methods he left. The club subsequently fell down the league.

Then he moved to Rangers with our David Weir and in one season won promotion to their Premier League. Remember Rangers had been in the Scottish Championship for 4 years. he also won the Scottish cup beating Celtic with a championship team !

This guy is good and going to be great. We are lucky David Weir is his right hand man hopefully he could push Warburton to signi for us.

Paul K, when I saw the final score I thought AM had been knocked out. My bad.

Frank, really? Warburton? League One, Championship and Scottish 2nd Division football "success" makes him a candidate to manage Everton FC? Really? Nothing against the fella but is this the man to make us competitive against the elite teams?

Colin I agree these are not elite leagues but he has installed a 'winning' mentality into two different squads. That's what we need.
Do Rangers now qualify for Europe after winning the Scottish cup?

Sadly I don't think Warburton would come to Everton this year maybe next year if Rangers are in Europe and he finds he cannot get the money needed for transfers.
