Geoff Lambert 2 Posted 17/09/2022 at 00:33:23 Could be on Sunday Will. Dave Abrahams 3 Posted 17/09/2022 at 10:15:51 I switched off the Villa v Southampton at half time, what a load of drivel, and the only goal perfectly suited this game. Brent Stephens 4 Posted 17/09/2022 at 12:52:21 Haaland scores again. A beast. Dave Abrahams 5 Posted 17/09/2022 at 13:25:00 Brent (4), Wolves giving City a good game despite the score, although the sending-off has made it unlikely they will get anything out of this game, I thought the sending off was harsh, did the VAR look at it? They didn't seem to. Brent Stephens 6 Posted 17/09/2022 at 13:34:55 Dave, I have to admit I winced when I saw the challenge that got a sending-off. Not sure if the VAR had a look. Brian Murray 7 Posted 17/09/2022 at 13:52:41 Wolves not too dissimilar to us as in great approach play but cutting edge not quite there. Hopefully we have sorted that or are about to. Will Mabon 8 Posted 17/09/2022 at 13:56:55 For now, Geoff, we're back out so things are good. :-) Colin Glassar 9 Posted 17/09/2022 at 14:27:24 As great as Man City are, they sometimes bore me to tears. They get a few early goals and then go into cruise control. I think they even drive Pep mad with that attitude. Fran Mitchell 10 Posted 17/09/2022 at 14:35:55 Dead right, Colin, City are boring. They are incredibly efficient and will dominate for the next decade or so. But they are boring. Never are City on TV and I think, 'I wanna watch that'. Ferguson's Man Utd, Wenger's Arsenal, and hate to say it, Klopp's Shite, when at their best, provided football that neutrals would watch and enjoy. The great teams of Barça and Madrid, of Ancelotti's Milan, even Guardiola's Bayern, they were great teams to watch. But this City team, when they're on they are efficient, sometimes a goal is technically great, but generally most my time is spent pottering about paying attention to something else, or scrolling on the phone.Boring. Dave Abrahams 11 Posted 17/09/2022 at 14:36:04 Brent (6), yes it did look bad, but I didn't think there was any malicious intent. Wolves carried on though, even with ten men, pressing Wolves, but as Brian says (7) they didn't have much of a cutting edge. Eddie Dunn 12 Posted 17/09/2022 at 14:36:58 Agree Colin, they had more space to exploit but slowed the tempo to a training ground knockabout. I think they could have had a few more goals but perhaps they know that goal difference won't be needed this time. Will Mabon 13 Posted 17/09/2022 at 14:47:48 It's no surprise; financial power and business manifest in football form. Visible in City's play. The Three Es. Look around, it's now behind everything.A point will eventually come where the top teams are quietly told to stop beating everyone 5, 6, 7-0, and only fight with each other. Martin Mason 14 Posted 17/09/2022 at 14:49:15 Looks as though Citeh have taken a step forward that the RS can't match. It's up to Everton to catch and pass them now. Tony Hill 15 Posted 17/09/2022 at 15:00:46 Yes, Will @13, this is the immediate future and it is the reason why, despite my present optimism for our team on its own terms, I am losing interest in the game.A Super League is inevitable and Manchester City and, almost certainly, Newcastle are going to be dominant in the meantime. They will probably also be dominant in the Super League.Football eats itself. Brian Murray 16 Posted 17/09/2022 at 15:52:38 Colin post 9. City can drive us mad for as long as we are ready to take their crown. God bless pep. Michael Kenrick 17 Posted 17/09/2022 at 16:27:49 Lovely goal from Bournemouth – I had been multi-tasking but just looked up as the move developed and sensed something might come of it. They have managed to thwart everything the Toon has thrown at them, to score just after the hour... can they hold out? Michael Kenrick 18 Posted 17/09/2022 at 16:30:59 So no. They cannot. Typical VAR penalty decision for Newcastle. Isak scores. Good penalty. Brian Murray 19 Posted 17/09/2022 at 16:33:57 Michael. The toon are doing exactly the opposite of us when we had half a billion to spend. long hard road but obviously I don't give a friars about them. It may take them a while or shock horror we grow before them. Michael Kenrick 20 Posted 17/09/2022 at 17:06:08 Score draw. More points dropped by Newcastle. They didn't look all that great but they were without that lad Saint-Maximin. The VAR decision for the Newcastle penalty is very dubious when you look at it closely. Robbie Mustoe saying it comes off his knee, not his arm. Michael Kenrick 21 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:01:00 That twat Son… how to hit a fucking ball! Jeff Armstrong 22 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:09:50 Brenda out, we need clubs like Leicester to be in turmoil. Brent Stephens 23 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:11:08 Son another beauty. My word. Tony Hill 24 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:11:10 As Klopp pointed out after the Saudi purchase, Newcastle could have afforded to be relegated last season and they would still have been challenging for the title a few years afterwards. It's going to happen and we'd best get used to it. I can't stand the Geordie fanbase but the future is theirs. No other comparable sovereign fund is going to come into English football – the Chinese will not – and they, and City (because they got there first) will become, and will remain, the Celtic/Rangers, Bayern, Real Madrid/Barcelona of our League. This has been obviously forming for years, and now it's here. We had our chance to muscle in when Moshiri came and we fucked it up.Sorry to be melancholy but any suggestion that a draw against Bournemouth carries the remotest significance for Newcastle is ludicrous. Jeff Armstrong 25 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:11:40 Richarlison not getting back in anytime soon, that twat Son again! Brent Stephens 26 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:12:16 Left foot, rigjt foot? Michael Kenrick 27 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:12:32 And again… holy fuck! Spurs 5-2. Top of the Table. Jeff Armstrong 28 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:13:56 Onside Brent Stephens 29 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:15:10 That looked way offside to me. My eyes, eh. Michael Kenrick 30 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:17:13 Guess he didn't like that Richarlison bloke starting ahead of him, forcing him to come off the bench and make a statement! Jeff Armstrong 31 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:17:25 Danny Ward 11 conceded in 2 games Redshite haha Tony Hill 32 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:22:18 Jeff @25, Son is a vastly better player than Richarlison. We did very well getting that money. Jeff Armstrong 33 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:24:21 Cannot stand Son, dirty rat. Tony Hill 34 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:24:58 Nor can I, Jeff, but he's a superb player. Brent Stephens 35 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:25:52 Leicester well and truly Rodger-ed. We have to face Spurs next month. I reckon we'll be mid-table by then and the new players integrated well into the team. Tony Everan 36 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:28:56 Crazy game, could have easily been 8-4. Leicester were just about in it at 3-2 and had chances, but the quality of the counter-attack and finishing was as good as it gets from Spurs, completely ruthless. Brendan hanging by a thread. Jeff Armstrong 37 Posted 17/09/2022 at 19:46:33 Hope Brenda gets the sack, because Leicester are much better than their points total and position shows. If he stays, they will eventually start getting the points their play deserves. If he goes, they will be a mess for the next 2 months and maybe beyond. Will Mabon 38 Posted 17/09/2022 at 20:10:42 Tony @ 15 - mystery is becoming hard to find... Danny O’Neill 39 Posted 17/09/2022 at 21:08:57 Haarland - wow. A goal machine. I'm not entirely sure why the Wolves fans were aggrieved by the sending off. I get confused by interpretation of the rules but last time I looked a Kung Foo kick wasn't permitted. And how hard do City work off the ball? You should work harder off the ball than when you have it. Be that making runs to provide options when in possession or to press and regain possession.Although it did grate hearing Jenas saying the ref called it absolutely correct. I think it was him trying to justify why it was correct to award Van Dijk a Yellow for his leg breaker on Onana.I can see Son attracting the attention of a big move soon. Although I don't know where. In England only City would be a step up, but he doesn't strike me as a Pep player. But then aren't most of the European elite skint? But then again, they seem immune from FFP restrictions. Maybe Bayern. Didn't he play in Germany before moving to Tottenham? Michael Kenrick 40 Posted 17/09/2022 at 21:55:32 That Redshite mentions Steven Naismith's hat-trick vs Chelsea but somehow misses out the key words "for Everton". Tony Abrahams 41 Posted 18/09/2022 at 07:59:51 Wolves, West Ham and Brentford, Bernie, and all very debatable decisions when you consider the other things that Michael Oliver let go in those three games. Yesterday has gone though, and even when it seems they are against you, I've never seen the wisdom in berating the referee! Jim Bennings 42 Posted 18/09/2022 at 08:06:26 Rodgers still dining off the back of one good season at Liverpool and winning the FA Cup with a good squad of players at Leicester. His teams can't defend.I think the debate about Richarlison and Son if it was 85% on complete prior to yesterday, concludes with Son being a miles better player than Richi. As much as I love Richi, he's still got a lack of killer instinct in too many areas. Will Mabon 43 Posted 18/09/2022 at 12:49:18 Michael @ 40 - I noticed that wording in the BBC Live Feed. An edit from what would be the natural way and flow in which it would be written: it described the first substitute hattrick since 2015. Deliberate and petty. Bill Gall 44 Posted 18/09/2022 at 14:00:08 See Arsenal go top after beating Brentford.Watching the game, I see Arsenal are getting good in the dark arts of the game, it's about time the refs started giving cards for players deliberately slowing the game down by arguing his decisions.
