In fact, it was at the West Ham fixture last season that I nearly had enough.

Two piss-heads after the game took a totally bizarre view of an innocent comment I made and, after telling me I should support Man Utd, loudly shouted that I was a effin disgrace, arousing the interest of a mob getting on the coaches who smelt blood and moved towards me.

It was only thanks to the calm intervention of a big black lad who ushered me away that I got away without a kicking for nothing more than an accent developed just 12 miles from Goodison Park.

I've seen what you talk about a few times at Goodison Park: Bluenoses with a different accent getting grief.

One game versus Norwich, we got beat 4-2, first game of the season, and a young lad getting verbal abuse from a few with the physical stuff not far away. I got hold of him and walked him away from the dickheads, they never followed us.

Another time, a young Spurs fan, with his girlfriend, took a smack off this big bully of a lad. Before I could get to him, a fella I knew from town was right into this thug and gave him one right on the jaw, telling him “If you want to fight, pick on a man, not a kid!"

Gave him loads more verbals and the thug took seconds and done one, while he took the lad and his girlfriend along Netherfield Road and waited at a bus stop and put them on the bus to Lime Street.

Most of these bullies attack in a gang and are mostly useless on their own. I've seen it happen to Bluenoses in different places, especially Manchester.

Well, it could have been worse tonight. In the bottom 3 but only 2 points off Leicester. Still a lot of teams in the mix. No escaping we are one of them, but to Rob's recent article, if I was one of them, I'd be nervous.

We can only take care of our own results, but tonight didn't fall too badly for us.

I mostly get on well with supporters of other clubs. Both when I travel to watch Everton and when I sit in my local watching us and football in general on the screen. You get the odd idiot on all sides, but generally, football unites people from different backgrounds and support bases.

I just went on BBC sport to check the score Michael, and ended up reading a quite remarkable stat. (if it's actually true). Van Nistelroy scored over 150 goals in 219 games I think it said.

During the 5 seasons he was at United, they only won the league once, but they had won the league, three seasons on the bounce before he arrived at the club, and then won the league another 3 seasons on the bounce, after he left the club.

They were saying United never needed a great goal scorer, and are asking if Harland is going to have a similar effect on City, who seem to have really changed their game, to incorporate him into the side? Many Evertonians said the same thing about the effect the 40 goals in one season Gary Linekar, had on our great team.

Interesting Dave, but they are very long in the tooth those Chelsea players, and most observers felt that Potter, made a silly move for everything except his bank balance, when he chose to leave Brighton, and go to Stamford Bridge. I remember reading on these pages last season, that someone had claimed to have been on a Brighton fans website, and claimed that a lot of fans were not very happy with Potter. He was being criticized for rarely overcommitting to get his side into offensive positions, (my memory of why they were being critical might not be correct) We will find out soon enough?

Chelsea definitely second best Fulham going forward no pass back and players moving the ball quickly not holding the ball and looking for someone to pass to.

Chelsea still trying to find their way under new owners, new manager and some new players including one signed in the last couple of days.

They've lost a few on the run, low on confidence shown by the indecision of many of their passes and are second best to Fulham up to now, not helped by one of the new and poor referees but the game is not over yet.

Game over. Fulham win; well-managed team were playing better than Chelsea before they had a man sent off. Fulham have one of our ex-managers but he has improved from when he was with Everton.

Fulham are having a good season, and I think they could well have enough to beat Newcastle on Sunday. Should be an interesting game that one.

Rob (105), I wouldn't argue too much about that tackle only to say there was no intent to injure his opponent and I've seen worse tackles escape a red and receive a yellow, including some by and against Everton players this season alone.

No intent but a badly timed tackle that could have injured the player, so a red for me. Fulham and Silva doing well as it stands.

The much admired Potter and Chelsea not so. I hope not for his sake and reputation, but it is looking more and more like Mike Walker from Norwich to Everton or David Moyes to United scenario.

Some managers are better suited at smaller, well run clubs.

Danny, although I do agree, I would argue that Brighton are now a "bigger Club" than Fulham. In terms of stadium/facilities, growing fanbase and a rebranded image, all part of the South Coast.

I think Potter at Chelsea is very much like Moyes at Man Utd. Neither have won anything in the top leagues and both have gone to clubs were their players have won everything. So from the get go they are under pressure as the players will view their appointments as why have we appointed someone to manage me who has never won a major trophy. And of course when they leave players out no doubt those players will not be happy and if results start badly then things unravel very quickly.

Moyes only got 7 months at Man Utd and he bought Fellaini and Matta from Chelsea, and quite interesting that the managers who followed Moyes played both Fellaini and Matta. I also don't think enough was made of when he took over they were the Champions but a side who most of the players were at the end of their careers and needed changing. I think it will be interesting to see how long Potter gets if results don't turn round very quickly.

Joe, if you look at the stand Fulham has built on the banks of the Thames, their facilities are improving. There were very few supporters in it when we visited and got that hard won draw, but they are definitely progressing as a club.

Especially when you consider were they where a few decades ago. Just like Brighton and Brentford.

Danny on your comments of Fulham stadium I always wonder how the were allowed to move the wall behind the new stand further out into the Thames as the Thames River is a World Heritage Site under the Heritage society after the problems Everton had with them over a dock wall

Brian@115, good points, well made, but if you don't do enough to make your players believe in you, or respect you, then I don't think you are ever going to succeed?

If it's true that Moyes brought Phil Jagielka, into a conversation with the United defenders, and allegedly told them to watch how he reacted in certain situations, then I can see why he wasn't given a proper chance.

Potter is probably in a similar situation, and getting success at Everton, (Moyes was actually perceived as being successful) or Brighton, is totally different to going into a changing room full of players, who both expect to win, but also expect that their manager, should be capable of showing them, how to win.

If they don't believe the manager can show them how to win, then they will feel that he doesn't deserve a proper chance, and will act accordingly, although this won't stop any of them picking up their wages.
