Merseyside Derby – Predictions & Betting Tips

The 62nd Premier League edition of the famous Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton falls on February 13.

Jordan Pickford's heroic performance helped the Toffees hold their cross-town rivals to a drab 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture in September, but they had a reverberant vocal support at Goodison Park.

A mouth-watering encounter against downtrodden Premier League heavyweights at Anfield could come too late for under-fire boss Frank Lampard.

Everton fans warned the Goodison hierarchy not to attend the Southampton game last weekend after the Toffees slipped to the drop zone on the back of seven straight winless league matches (D2, L5).

The pressure continues to mount on Lampard ahead of his side's trip to London to face fellow relegation rivals West Ham United next weekend as the Toffees bid to end a nine-game winless league run in the capital (D3, L6).

Another underwhelming result could result in the Englishman's departure less than a month before Everton's clash against underperforming Liverpool in their own backyard.

Jurgen Klopp's men are already ten points off the Premier League top-four pace, while they've opened the new calendar year with back-to-back top-flight defeats for the first time since 1993.

Brighton & Hove Albion trounced the Reds 3-0 at the Amex Stadium last time out, exposing their growing defensive issues in the wake of Virgil van Dijk's injury.

Everton vs Liverpool Predictions

Anything other than victory could spell the end for Liverpool's hopes of reigniting a faltering top-four race and perhaps throw Klopp's future at Anfield into doubt. Liverpool have gone from being the betting favourites to challenge Man City for the title to being predicted to finish fifth at best.

If he stays at the helm by February, Lampard will undoubtedly settle for a point, but it would hardly go down well with the devastated Goodison crowd. Everton are deep in a relegation battle and the odds on them surviving are not good.

Since both teams are going through a rough period, we can picture a scoring draw. Games like these are tough to call, so if you are spending your money gambling online this weekend, we recommend that you click here to play slots for free instead.

Everton vs Liverpool Betting Tips

Safe bet - Both teams score

This fixture has a scoring draw written all over it. Both sides have shown their capacity to score, while neither can boast defensive stability.

Everton's last four Premier League outings have seen both sides find the back of the net, with the Toffees bagging precisely one goal on each occasion.

On the other hand, before last weekend's humiliation at Brighton, six of Liverpool's previous league matches had featured both teams on the scoresheet.

With Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo leading the line, the Reds should trouble the scoreboard without breaking a sweat.

But without van Dijk and with their backline performing well below expectations, they are equally likely to concede at least once.

Brave pick - Liverpool -1 handicap

Liverpool's ongoing Premier League form cannot inspire much confidence among the Anfield faithful, but the Reds are no strangers to pulling off clear-cut wins.

Two of their last three top-flight triumphs have come via an identical 3-1 scoreline, though only two of their six home league wins this season have yielded multi-goal margins.

However, Everton have lost four of their last seven away matches in all competitions by at least a two-goal margin, including a brace of embarrassing defeats to Bournemouth by an aggregate score of 7-1.

It's a long shot, but the Toffees have looked incapable of responding to setbacks, as witnessed by a dreadful run of seven straight domestic travels without winning (D2, L5).
