Everton Women convincingly win Merseyside derby
Everton Women won the Anfield derby in emphatic fashion today, beating newly-promoted Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield.
The Blues were favourites coming into the match and they underlined their superiority by dominating the early stages and taking the lead in the ninth minute when Megan Finnigan headed past Rachael Laws.
Jess Park doubled the lead by exhibiting great composure to shift the ball to her other foot and stroke it home just past the half-hour mark.
And substitute Hanna Bennison slid Park's ball in to put the icing on the cake near the end of the second half with Everton's third.
The win, earned in front of a sold-out away section and the third Blues win in this fixture, gets Brian Sorensen's side off to winning ways following last weekend's narrow defeat at West Ham.

Great character and a great response to losing unluckily last week at West Ham.
Superb, to see Everton win, at any level at our old ground, and Sorensen, has it seems made a huge impact preseason, and the players are believing and expressing themselves, with some good controlled football.
Long may it last!

I thought it was a great display of controlling the game once a deserved two goal lead was established, with the well executed third on the counter being a fitting coup de grace.

"There's been a mordor"
Fecking knew they were evil...

It occurred to me how dangerous this could be if you have a Calvert-Lewin type in front of the goal and a bunch of attackers creating mayhem but I can't recall Everton doing anything like it for a long time. Maybe one of our TW experts will tell me why?

To broaden engagement especially if you want to tap into two relatively untapped fan segments (young people and women), it might be a good idea to try and find someone to write regularly on the women just as we have pre-match articles for men's games, plus two or three lengthy match reports.

That's two good result against RS so far this season.

It is obvious plenty in the media would love it to be a promoted one season, champions of it all the next ‘fairy tale' for one particular club.
Hopefully this is a year for both the boys and girls to massively exceed expectations.

They beat Chelsea by dint of 2 pens but were generally outplayed. One of those sort of games.
The women's team recruitment has mirrored the men's over the last couple of seasons with lots of signings but no clear strategy and, like the men, the side drastically underperformed.

Great win girls, Keep it up. Be great to see the men follow your example.

My first thoughts when reading your post though, Ron, was Phil Neville, with the shortest long throw-in I've ever seen!

It has to be white shorts.
The debate is white socks or blue socks?
Discuss.

Let's stick to Royal, not that One2One kit. And no Lineker bibs.
46 Posted 26/09/2022 at 13:55:28
I'm glad you mentioned the correct colour of the Shirt.
It SHOULD be Royal Blue.
Why oh why is the Blue colour of our shirts often diluted and paler?
Look at old clips from the 70s the colour/shade of blue of shirts is different from the ones we've had over the last decades and could not be described as Royal Blue.
Why is that?

Was 0-0 going into the fourth minute of added on time, when a free-kick was awarded to Everton out wide left. The ball was floated in, and the Leicester goalie under absolutely no pressure whatsoever, punched the ball into her own net! She could have caught it with one hand and her eyes shut, or just let it go out for a goal kick. Finished 1-0.

I'd like to see the Saints' keeper do the same and send Hassenhoff on his way out of the League.
