The score remained the same despite City efforts to get back into the game, giving Leighton Baines his first league win at this level.

In Academy News today:

John Ebbrell has left his role as Academy Player Senior Development Coach to become assistant manager at Oldham Athletic under David Unsworth.

Ebbrell has been a valued part of Everton Academy since 2015, initially returning to the Club as a coach before being named Under-18s manager and later stepping up to support David Unsworth as part of the Under-23s set up that won two Premier League 2 titles and the Premier League Cup.

Just to put it into perspective...

This is some win for Baines and Everton, our first league win since April, our first home win since mid-February, only our second home win in 10 months, our first clean sheet since early April, and our first league win v Man City in 4 years!!!

This was City's first defeat of the season, their first league loss since March, and only their second since early December, they had scored in the last 20 games, and only had 1 defeat in 20 before today!!!

Well in, Bainesy!

Well Michael you could have added that neither keeper had a shot to save in both halves with City having most of the ball in the first half and the only decent effort by Everton or City was the wonder goal by Dixon/ Quintyne, nevertheless a win is a win and I hope Leighton proves that he's got what it takes to be a good coach.

Sounds like you got the gizmos to work and you got to watch it then, Dave? Worrying if they are teaching them to play for 90 minutes and not test the keeper.

I had to do a Danny and walk the hound.

Wow. Did Emilio Lawrence play for them out of interest?

Robert, no Lawrence wasn't in the match squad. I haven't seen his name for City when I've looked.

Rob & Phill,

I'd completely forgotten about him. Maybe Man City have too. He has not featured in any U18s game so far this season.

He'll probably move to Southampton in a couple of years.
