Middlesbrough U18s 2 - 0 Everton U18s

Everton U18s travelled to Middlesbrough for a lunchtime game today but could not get on the scoresheet. 

Leighton Baines has a core of around 15 preferred players that he selects from for most games but some of those (Halid Jankpata, Ishe Samuels-Smith and Francis Okoronkwo) have been recently elevated to play some games for the U21s.   

One solid regular so far this season is midfielder Matthew Apter, whose signature on a new 3-year contract is being celebrated this morning. But it's a first start in this age group for Daniel Gibson in goal and a tough introduction for him. 

Everton went behind just before the hour-mark, with the home side scoring again to give them a 2-0 win.

Everton U18s: Gibson, J Patterson, Quintyne Dixon, Wilson, Wright (82' O Samuels-Smith), Apter (81' Coughlan), Tierney, Heath (64' Beaumont-Clark), Djankpata (71' Bates), Ebere, Smikle-James.
Subs not Used: Graham.

Michael,

Daniel Gibson is a new one on me, do you know anything about him? I don't think he's a Scholar, but we do have a habit over the years of collecting random young goalkeepers, eg, Pat Nash who came and went in about 6 months.

Really hard to get anything to show up on him. Seems our former player had the full name Darron Thomas Daniel Gibson and so he dominates any search results.

And nothing on GOT, which is unusual.

A Daniel Gibson is listed as a player for Cherry Burton FC, but it seems they play in the Humber Premier League! I don't think it's him...

Yep I've gone down the same fruitless route! I'm half thinking it's a typo, all the sites show the same team with Patterson, a midfielder, at centre-back and D Gibson in goal. I've seen this before, if there is an error it just gets repeated.

There was a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 against his name somewhere, we've got three players with Wales U15, one with the U16 but no Gibson shown. It would be unusual for any Welsh player making our U18s not to feature in their squads.

I'm tempted to think it's a misprint of “ Dylan Graham “ even though he's on the bench ….. unless they couldn't be arsed spelling Doug Lukjanciks, we may never know!
