Yes Paul I suppose it's better than Wolves getting points but what a hideous photo of Robertson on the front of the red Echo.

Imagine being lucky enough to be a Brighton fan in this present day?
That's how a football club SHOULD be ran.

Said on the wrong chat: Brighton are everything Everton have wanted to be. How far we are behind them is ridiculous.

Luke
It shows that a football club should not be falling apart when individuals are sold/injured etc etc.
At Everton we have all the excuses in the book
"when DCL is fit, when Seamus is back, when this fella is ready" blah blah blah.
Other progressive clubs sell their best players but keep on churning out good teams.
Everton make getting a half decent team look like a manned mission to Mars.

Very dubious penalty awarded to Villa. Took the ref and VAR a good four minutes to come to the conclusion it was a penalty. Watkins brought down in the box, no arguments there, but did the Palace defender play the ball first, or bring down Watkins first? It was very difficult to tell. Palace will feel a bit miffed about it.

Rob @ 23
I know that the penalty award took ages to decide, but how on earth can a half last over a third longer due to added time? Was there a significant injury in the match?
I'm gutted as I used to have a reliable link to live matches but it seems it has now been shut down.

Barry, I watched Man City and only put the Villa game on after seeing the discussion on sky soccer Saturday about the Villa penalty. I caught the penalty incident just in time, and there was already nine minutes added time, so I've no idea what the nine minutes was for. In the end, there was seventeen minutes added on time in the second half!!

Whenever there's a change or update of a rule, they always go hard at it for a time. There have been a few matches with huge extra time, maybe it will calm down eventually (except for when the darlings are losing at home).

Will @29
That's what usually happens, however, I'm pretty sure that Howard Webb stated that it wouldn't be the case this season.

Chelsea look like the pressure is already getting to them. On top the first 15 minutes but only got the wrong side of the post. 550 million pounds for dudes that don't play well with each other or for each other.

Some carrying on with the VAR in the Forest v Burnley game especially with Burnley's goal in the second half disallowed for handball, dead hookey that.
And on the highlights I don't know why the Burnley player was sent off, it didn't show what had happened.

Dave @36,
I thought the goal was a clean goal on first look, but as the VAR got involved, I was persuaded of the 'handball' after they showed umpteen replays, but I still didn't agree that it should have been ruled out, a defender in the same situation would be totally aggrieved if a penalty was awarded for the same 'offence'.
As for the sending-off, I laughed when the co-commentator said something along the lines of "he was being held, but he shouldn't have reacted in that manner", because if the lad was being held then it should have resulted in a penalty to Burnley as that was the first offence.
They even managed to spoil the moment when that former Chelsea lad smashed in a glorious goal, looking for faux offsides or handballs in the build-up. I really don't understand why the VAR is getting involved in every goal, unless there is a debatable offside or foul in the build-up.

Barry (37),
It seemed to me, after the referee looked at the incident, he was indicating it was because the lad had hit the ball with the top of his arm.
It reminded me that when the Man City player handled the ball in that game v Everton, the ref looked at the screen and said it was above the elbow, so no foul. The City player had hit the ball with his lower arm anyway just to make it plain.
It's not the VAR to blame but the referees on and off the field who are using it, bias definitely comes into it.
