Spot on, Paul.
First one, Kovacic in from behind, no chance of getting the ball, gets the man instead. Red? Probably harsh but certainly a yellow. Still gets the VAR review treatment, which backs Oliver.
Second one, Kovacic in from behind, no chance of getting the ball, gets the man instead. Surely at least a second yellow? No, not even a card at all according to Oliver. Therefore no VAR check.
Just bizarre from PGMOL's best. Oliver just resolute he was not going to send the City player off. That Twat Savage making the same point on 5Live.
Paul Ferry 52Posted

Agree MK, equally nuts was not slinging Kovacic at half-ttime.

The reason for the small gaps are the small number of games played so far Danny. I'm one of those so-called 'happy clappers', but anyone who thinks that we turned a corner yesterday against a piss-poor team is in cloud-cuckoo land. If, IF, DCL, Jimmy Garner, McNeil (MOM yesterday), future skipper Branthwaite, and the Leeds lad can play consistently in the time to come as they played yesterday then I see a comfy mid-table finish. Whatever happens, no way are we going down, look at what is below us.

He couldn't believe the questions he was asked, including being told he likes to gamble (he has a little online account for a few football bets) and felt they had taken intrusion a little bit too far.
Fuck them he said, I told them to forget about the loan, and I've started drawing three grand out of the bank as soon as my wages go in now. I've been telling you for years, I replied. Big brother is no longer just watching us, it's now starting to control us. Cash is king!

@Paul Ferry, I couldn't get to Luton because of the train strikes. It was full on rather than the usual reduced service I have managed to get away with. Simply no trains beyond Watford Junction. I was at a family wedding this weekend and had a word with my brother about checking fixture lists before getting married.
I was going to decline but got put under pressure by the family.
Interesting tales and I'll watch that film Brent.
The City of Liverpool, the city of my birth, has always fascinated me. Unique in so many ways. Full of history and heritage. Most of my Dad's side of the family grew up in the then Garston Tenements before being moved to Speke. Ten of them in a tenement flat.
My Grandad on my mother's side, having moved from Belfast, initially settled in Garston before moving to Speke. My mother grew up there and died in her housing association house that was literally metres from where she lived as a child.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that no matter how successful you are or how far you travel, you never forget your roots.

Paul, shame there's no Live Forum. The pun potential would make it entertaining. A friend of mine living in Sweden regularly watches his local women's team. A few seasons ago, they were 4 nil down at half-time to the best team in the league. The manager took off 4 players at the start of the second half, game ended 4 nil. When asked by a reporter what had made the difference in the second half, the losing manager said taking off the 4 blondes and replacing them with brunettes helped...a week later he was sacked.

Good game to watch, I thought Liverpool were going to run away with this game, scoring in the first couple of minutes, over ruled by a very close, but nice, VAR person, then Everton got into the game and finally scored after missing a sitter.
The left-back has stood out for me and the goalie always gives the defence confidence with her safe handling and organising. Keep it up girls.

So, this Rugby Union stuff. They give penalties for technical fouls, like putting your hands on the floor in a ruck or putting your knee down, and it's 3 points.
But I've seen at least 5 blatant and obvious forward passes in today's game and the Ireland game that were missed or ignored.
It's a basic rule that you can't pass the ball forward but refs in Union can track our refs a thing or two as they know the technical rules and the players don't call them cunts!

I'm not sure if it's an omen Brent, but if Everton played like Dave C described then that sounds like the perfect example.
I read the other day that the first ever Everton v Liverpool game was played in October 1894 (12th or 13th?) and Everton won 3-0. It's about time we went to Anfield, and stopped giving Liverpool to much respect, especially at a time when the moaning bastards are really feeling sorry for themselves, and feel like everyone has got it in for them.

If you are not going to be positive going to Anfield, then it's no use turning up imo, Brent.
We supporters might not have the talent of our players (it's why we only support) but when it comes to desire, to fight, and to the heart shown by “The Evertonians†then, if our players can match our fans, I genuinely believe we can come away from Anfield next week victorious.
I am definitely the type of Toffee who wouldn't mind playing Liverpool every week although it's been a very long time since we met fire with a big fucking hose-pipe!!

Tony (150) Totally agree 100%. People moan about the need for massive changes in mentality throughout the club - quite rightly. So are we - the loyal fans and supporters included in all of that? I hate to say it but the RS have all of this in spades and their supporters have dragged them over the line on many an occasion. EVERYONE needs to go there - and any game as one. DO IT BLUES.
Btw… saw last 20 minutes of the Women's game…. team 1-0 up… at their place and literally camped out in their half for the rest of the game. I said to my dearest regards their excellent tactics “I hope Mr Dyche is watching thisâ€â€¦???

I take heart from watching many different types of sport, especially when I'm watching the top level, so I've obviously just taken heart from watching that game of rugby tonight. Thrilling stuff, the French were so fast and skillful, and moved the ball so fluently at speed, but the South Africans, were very savvy, and so resilient, and played with the heart of true champions.
Rugby was the winner tonight, and if I was looking at the derby next week through the eyes of Chris H, I think one of our biggest problems over the last few years in these games (besides talent) is that we want to beat them that much, that it can possibly work against us?
It's been a long time since Big Joe Royle, had the kopites, getting more wound up after every passing derby, and he had definitely got under their skin, which made it so much harder for them to beat us, imo.
It's why I always say it's just another game, even if I know the overall importance of the fixture. I think I've always known how to play Liverpudlians at their own game, but it's no good us supporters knowing unless the team knows to, because it's what happens out on the pitch, that wins football matches. Don't be scared - “just believeâ€
Paul Hewitt 160Posted

Tony. The think with the derby is, We're beaten before we get on the pitch. That's the players mentality.
Tony Abrahams 161Posted
15/10/2023 at

Definitely at Anfield, Paul, but not so much at Goodison. Liverpool are a very good team, and they can definitely score goals, with fast aggressive counter attacking football, from almost any area of the pitch, but they can also definitely be got at, and this is what we must do if we are to stand a chance of getting anything out of the game.
The Liverpudlians are going to be very aggressive next week, because they believe the whole footballing world is against them at the moment, (very natural when things don't go their way) so Everton have got to be both tough and savvy, and stand up to these entitled fuckers, otherwise we will be better just staying at home.
It's going to be a very long time since Everton have gone into a derby match with me feeling confident, and if my bet comes in next week, I might even be able to take my family on holiday! We will see😂

Tony #159] Like you I watched the rugby World Cup quarterfinals - 4 great games and all close. What was particularly interesting was how thorough and clear their TMO (VAR) discussions and decisions were - including the conversations with the on pitch referee. Plus they were displayed on screen for the TV viewer. A complete contrast to the shambolic EPL equivalent.

My own conclusion is that since football has become a saturated television sport, then it needs controversy to survive Mike, because it's not that often that we see a really great game? I might be wrong because I don't even watch that much football nowadays, but why did Liverpool football club request the live audio, after the Spurs game?
I thought the live audio was shocking, but I suppose that keeps it in line, with how I view most officiating nowadays.

Paul@160, I agree with we are beaten before we step out over the park mentality and it is something that needs to change this weekend.
With Robertson out, it's the perfect chance to attack that side of the field, bring Patterson in and use him and Harrison to link up, play both Calvert- Lewin and Betto and watch st Virgil flap, not knowing who to mark, get the ball out wide to both McNeil and Harrison and have a go at them.
Sadly I think Dyche will set up the same way he did against Arsenal and sooner or later we will crack.
A huge opportunity and one we could win, not said that for a while, but we really have a great chance, let's hope the players and the manager thinks the same way and we have a damn good go.
We will never have a better chance, with our key players back fit.
Well done Wigan Warriors, over to you Everton.

The reason I don't worry about the derby is the shite exist in a different galaxy to us. Our "A" game is about a 6 out of 10 whilst theirs 9 out of 10, the game is as near a foregone conclusion as you can get. What's the point getting stressed about a known result?
It's not even mental — Everton players just aren't capable of competing against higher level opposition except when they don't show; and how often do Liverpool do that in big games?

Rob, I'll probably be watching that clip from the Ballad of Dixie and Kenny daily in the build-up to the weekend!! It's on repeat on my YouTube!
That other link brought back happy memories of that day. We took over Wembley, just like we did against United in 2009 at the Semi-Final.
Thousands of Blues without tickets watching in the bars around Wembley just so they could be part of the occasion.
I'll say it again. Wait until we win something again (we will). Explosion.
On 1984, mingling with the Watford supporters before and after the match, seeing Everton lift a trophy for the first time in my life.
The following season League Champions with a then record 90 points. Then on to Rotterdam where our supporters were commended for their behaviour, unlike our satanic cousins a few weeks later. Enough said, no matter how much they try to airbrush history and avoid the subject.
I'm not making excuses for 30 years of neglect in the management of Everton, but they damaged English football and they damaged the opportunity of the top team in English football at the time (yes Everton) to go on to achieve further European glory. And we would have. There is no doubt in my mind. We were that good.
I can't forgive them for that and it changed my relationship with them.
Next weekend, we go to the stadium we had built and was our home from 1884 until we moved to Goodison.
I don't fear them. I never have. I never will. Do not fear them.
My best derby experiences have ironically been at that cesspit. Not just the victories I witnessed, but even when we lost. Sheedy sticking his finger up at the Kop. On that day, we knew and they knew, we were on our way to a second league title in 3 seasons having narrowly been runners up in the interim one.
So, for those will be there on Saturday and make the short trek (for most), be bold and stand up to the tourists. They will try to ridicule us because we bother them.
Look them in the eye. Stand loud. Stand proud.
Sorry. You're going to get a lot of this from me this week and I'll probably get worse!!
