Season › 2023-24 › General Forum Burnley (H) meet-up By Jonathan Oppenheimer 29/03/2024 Share: Back in January, in preparation for my maiden voyage to Goodison Park next week, I recounted my journey in becoming a true Blue. A good many of you responded with kind words, stories of your own, recommendations for my time on Merseyside, and offers to meet up and show me a good time upon my arrival. This here is my final call to rally the troops for the weekend of the Burnley match and solicit any final words of advice for my trip. If all goes as planned with flights and trains, I’ll be in town staying by Albert Dock on Friday night. For Saturday, it would be great to see as many ToffeeWebbers as possible pre- and post-match. Please let me know if there’s a contingent of you all going to The Harlech or elsewhere before the match, and if so, what time I should show up. And then afterwards, Neil Copeland has discussed heading to the Bramley Moore for some drinks. The rest of my time before departing is mostly free. Neil and Stephen Vincent and I have discussed heading to Chester on Sunday, for those who are interested. I’ve received a load of great recommendations already, but if you haven’t weighed in already, I’m eager to hear more. But more than anything, I look forward to meeting you all and cheering us to victory at Goodison; the Lower Gwladys, GT5, Row M, Seat 124, to be specific and for those who want to say hi. See you all in England. Reader Comments (12) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Comments are the responsibility of the poster. Disclaimer () Neil Copeland 1 Posted 29/03/2024 at 15:58:07 Looking forward to it Jonathan.Hopefully, we can encourage a few to the Bramley Moore after the game. There is sure to be a number of TWs at The Harlech before kick off though.Let me know if you want collecting from the hotel beforehand. Dave Abrahams 2 Posted 29/03/2024 at 19:58:05 Jonathan, That ‘s a week on Saturday, Iâ€ll try and get to one of the pubs before or after the game, I hope you have a great time on your visit here, bring us some very needed luck v Burnley, best wishes. Jonathan Oppenheimer 3 Posted 29/03/2024 at 21:49:35 Looking forward to it, Neil and Dave. I should be able to get there on my own, but thanks for the offer. I'll plan to be at the Harlech by 12pm. If any of you see an odd-looking Yank in a black Everton baseball cap, come say hi! And on to the Bramley Moore post-match to celebrate the win! Mike Gaynes 4 Posted 29/03/2024 at 22:33:14 Jonathan, have a great trip. Wear your Vikings horns so I can spot you in the stand on TV. Enjoy the Bramley Moore after the victory. You'll be in great company with Neil, Dave and Tony, Pete, Andy and the rest of the lads. And please don't do what I did when I first glimpsed that vast expanse of green Goodison turf. Yanks in tears get funny looks from the locals. Danny O’Neill 5 Posted 29/03/2024 at 22:43:22 You'll be looked after, Jonathan.Hopefully we get to meet up. Mike Galley 6 Posted 29/03/2024 at 23:36:54 I don't post on here very often but peruse every day. It's my go-to Everton site.I've not turned up to any ToffeeWeb get-together before, but if you don't mind, Jonathan, I'll show up and have a drink with yourself and the other ToffeeWebbers that show up.I'll get down the Bramley Moore pub afterwards, hopefully, you'll get a nice surprise when you see how close it is to our new home! Jonathan Oppenheimer 7 Posted 30/03/2024 at 00:21:05 Mike Gaynes, I'd say there's a 75% likelihood I'm unable to follow your advice. I have to take my own advice I give teenagers every day, when I say it's a good thing to have a good cry. Also, I'm a cry-when-happy or moved kind of guy, and that'll never change. Whatever happens, as you say, I'll surely be in good hands, even if they have to pick me up off the floor.Danny, I surely hope we get to meet up. You're one of the many legendary travelers to matches, and I'd be honored to be a part of your journey next weekend.Mike Galley, there's nothing I'd like more than to share a pint with you and all the rest. I look forward to meeting you. I am not the most prolific posters on here, either, but it's meant a lot to feel a part of this community the past few years. Dave Abrahams 8 Posted 01/04/2024 at 10:50:49 Jonathon, You mention on another thread you will be visiting the Cathedrals when you visit our city, make sure you spend a good hour out two at the Anglican Cathedral, it really is very special inside and out.My own Cathedral, Paddy's Wigwam, is worth a look too, but the building is far from impressive compared to the Anglican one.The main thing is you have have a good visit, you are in very good hands with Stephen and Neil two very genuine people and you will meet a few more in the next couple of weeks. Dave Williams 9 Posted 03/04/2024 at 18:08:30 See you at the Harlech, Jonathan! Jonathan Oppenheimer 10 Posted 04/04/2024 at 21:14:23 Dave and Dave, I can't wait to meet lots of good people in the next few days. At the airport now ready to take flight, wearing my Everton gear and confusing all these Yanks who only support the fancy-named teams. The winning ways start Saturday at the Harlech. Dave Abrahams 11 Posted 06/04/2024 at 13:00:25 For anyone going to the Bramley Moore pub after the game, Tony can pick some people up at The Abbey Pub facing Stanley Park after the game – up to six fans counting myself. Peter Moore 12 Posted 06/04/2024 at 13:10:24 Have a great time! I can't make it but I expect the lads to do you proud today, put Burnley to the sword, early goals and a bouncing Goodison. Just the medicine we all need.If the curse breaks today, Jonathan, you shall not be allowed home til late May!
