One of those unfair-looking challenges where the player is committed to kicking the ball and the other player just puts their foot between the ball and the "offending" players without playing the ball! James Alder 2 Posted 30/03/2024 at 14:10:05 Newcastle players falling like flies. Could bode well for Tuesday. Now Gordon looks like he might be injured. Michael Kenrick 3 Posted 30/03/2024 at 14:18:07 Pete, I agree, didn't look worth a penalty but they gave it and so they have to give the next — despite Phillips in possession of the ball and Gordon tackling him by sticking his foot in front of his swinging leg, not touching the ball!Just bizarre decisions. I mean, how can you be given a penalty when you tackle the defender in possession and 'draw' the foul? Pete Hughes 4 Posted 30/03/2024 at 14:21:22 And West Ham blow their lead! Michael Kenrick 5 Posted 30/03/2024 at 14:31:08 Superb strike from Harvey Barnes, curled just inside the post, just beyond Fabianski's dive, off some very good work by Gordon. Pete Day 6 Posted 30/03/2024 at 14:33:39 A bit like getting your foot stood on by the defender who hasn't even seen it! What a game though! Hope their knackered for Tuesday! I think Anthony Gordon just got a 2nd yellow to boot! Michael Kenrick 7 Posted 30/03/2024 at 14:34:57 Yep, Gordon sent off – 2nd yellow for stupidly kicking the ball away!He misses Tuesday v his old club! Pete Hughes 8 Posted 30/03/2024 at 15:03:50 Luton 1 up already Paul Kossoff 9 Posted 30/03/2024 at 15:09:54 Luton winning 😠Paul Kossoff 10 Posted 30/03/2024 at 15:14:46 Palace beating Forest 😀 Paul Ferry 11 Posted 30/03/2024 at 21:09:38 How are Man Utd not losing? Michael Kenrick 12 Posted 30/03/2024 at 21:55:32 Looks like Man Utd may actually now be winning, despite the Bees buzzing all over them. Might be important for us in the long scheme of things... Michael Kenrick 13 Posted 30/03/2024 at 21:56:31 Ooops, no. Goal for Brentford, finally! Brent Stephens 14 Posted 30/03/2024 at 21:56:50 Important goal Charles Ward 15 Posted 31/03/2024 at 10:09:30 Well all of our relegation rivals drew or lost. Can't say any more than that. Brent Stephens 16 Posted 31/03/2024 at 14:03:45 Pick the bones out of that Brighton goal! Bill Gall 17 Posted 31/03/2024 at 14:51:11 Watching the difference in refereeing a top-six side: Every tackle a Liverpool player makes is a foul same players more than once, no booking. Rob Halligan 18 Posted 31/03/2024 at 15:11:03 Not having that…….Virgil van Dijk has only been booked twice all season in the league? Bill Gall 19 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:06:18 I may be biased but I have not seen a team make so many foul challenges get booked and continue to do it without a second yellow despite committing a fouls worst than they were originally booked for.It must be nice to be in the top 6 and get help from the referees Dave Lynch 20 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:20:30 Throughout my 63 years I have always needed on Liverpool player to hate more than the rest...I have two this time...Van Dyke, I would have loved to see him go up against Psycho Pat and that horrible bastard Robinson who I would of loved to of seen mix it with Reidy. Charles Ward 21 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:24:58 Dave 20 shows you how far we have fallen when you need to go back 40 years to find any players with fighting spirit. Rob Halligan 22 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:31:22 Man City v Arsenal to be refereed by a born and bred Mancunian, Anthony Taylor. Maybe the premier league want Man City to win the league after all! Paul Ferry 23 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:34:26 where's the yellow Taylor Edward Rogers 24 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:35:48 If that's an Everton player, he's booked, 100% John Keating 25 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:39:18 We are so far behind teams in the lower half of the division it's embarrassing Mark Murphy 26 Posted 31/03/2024 at 16:44:58 Ahh Paul, whilst you're here I just want to “own up†on something you said on another thread last night. You mentioned my name in a list of lads that go the game “week in week outâ€.Whilst I wish that it was so, I am not one of that elite (or is it loopy) few. I can't afford it. I'm lucky enough to go quite often - over a dozen so far this season - but not week in week out.I'll be at Chelsea, watching between fingers no doubt. My last game was Palace at home. The last game I enjoyed was West Ham away - when DCL actually scored.Anyhows - UTFinfuriatingTs!!! Edward Rogers 27 Posted 31/03/2024 at 17:11:05 Looks like Anthony Taylor`s saving his cards for next time he referees us. Paul Ferry 28 Posted 31/03/2024 at 17:22:35 still great support Mark Paul Ferry 29 Posted 31/03/2024 at 17:23:13 Haaland has touched the ball 3 times Dave Abrahams 30 Posted 31/03/2024 at 17:27:15 Edward (27), He'll book some in the second half that he didn't book in the first half for the same offence! Bill Gall 31 Posted 31/03/2024 at 17:34:56 Arsenal keeping Foden quiet Rob Halligan 32 Posted 31/03/2024 at 17:41:28 How was there not an Arsenal yellow card in that little sequence of fouls on city players? Edward Rogers 33 Posted 31/03/2024 at 17:45:04 I actually think the ref is having a good game, it's how games used to be.But you can't say this is a "big match" I'll let a few things go, then rock up for say Wolves v Burnley or West Ham v Brighton and referee them totally different. Booking someone in those games for the same fouls as this one could result in suspensions, sending offs etc. Just my take on it. Mark Murphy 34 Posted 31/03/2024 at 18:01:12 Thanks PaulEven now I'm looking forward to Chelsea. To be fair, the White Horse is part of the attraction…. UTFT Charles Ward 35 Posted 31/03/2024 at 18:06:11 Why wasn't the City player given a yellow card for kicking the ball out of the Arsenal keeper's hands, preventing a break? Paul Ferry 36 Posted 31/03/2024 at 18:29:00 Two teams cancel each other out. City still one win against the top 4. Surprised that Pep did not change things in the last third of the game. His two subs did nothing. Dave Abrahams 37 Posted 31/03/2024 at 18:34:35 Edward (33) I don't think anyone was booked for foul play, one was booked for wasting time, and Jesus was booked for acting the fool. Maybe the officials on the field and in the VAR room had a good bet on just two bookings, they'd get good odds for that in a top of the table clash! Paul Ferry 38 Posted 31/03/2024 at 18:37:56 Both bookings for wasting time Dave. Arsenal were very professional today. Saliba and Gabriel were outstanding. Jim Bennings 39 Posted 31/03/2024 at 19:03:39 The result we didn't want.Pretty much handed the title to the Shite that has.City haven't looked on it enough this season, too many games where they slip up in.Got this horrible scenario in my head where that lot all but win the title at Goodison Park on April 24th. Paul Ferry 40 Posted 31/03/2024 at 20:14:45 No surprise here. The usual histrionics: "Pretty much handed the title to the Shite that". Ridiculous. Jim Bennings 41 Posted 31/03/2024 at 20:44:34 Even less of a surprise that you have to reply to every comment Ferry you boring welt. Danny O’Neill 42 Posted 31/03/2024 at 20:47:48 Play nice gents. That result has no effect on us.Tuesday night does. Michael Lynch 43 Posted 31/03/2024 at 20:48:29 Looking at the remaining fixtures, it's very hard to see the RS blowing it this season. Not sure why anyone would object to someone suggesting that today's results have pretty much handed the title to the Shite? Once the RS had beaten Brighton, a win for either City or Arsenal was vital. The draw puts the Shite in the home straight, ahead of the rest. Michael Lynch 44 Posted 31/03/2024 at 20:50:36 Danny, it might not have an effect on you, but it does on me! The last thing I want is a Kloppfest at the end of the season as they parade their trophies around the city while we face life in the Championship with fuck all money, a shit squad, no ownership and a stadium we can't afford to finish. It's look pretty grim mate. Mark Murphy 45 Posted 31/03/2024 at 20:55:16 On the other hand (albeit it highly unlikely) the shite could lose the title at Goodison park. And Arsenal could win the title against us. Imagine the schadenfreude in that scenario!Anyhow - I'm more worried about us than them kuntz UTFT Danny O’Neill 46 Posted 31/03/2024 at 20:58:26 That's more like it Mark! Let's give him a Royal Blue send off.Arsenal is a write off. Customary battering, but we should be safe by then. Paul Ferry 47 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:01:23 How far ahead are they Michael? Six, seven, eight, nine points, ten points? How many matches to go? What's the current state of goal difference? Who has the best attack and the best defence? Have you closely checked the run-ins? Aresnal's looks quite decent don't you think? Who produced the most professional performance of the season today in my opinion? With respect, Michael, it is ridiculous to say that today's scrappy win handed the title on a plate to Klopp's lot.Michael, I sometimes think Danny says these things - and other sorry Danny 'silly seeming' things like I don't care who is on the pitch - with a big tongue in his cheek and they fly out fast. That sounded like one shite train trip home yesterday Danny. I wish it were otherwise. Paul Ferry 48 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:05:58 Wouldn't mind at all if we lost 7-1 on the last day of the season if it gave the gunners the title Mark. Mark Murphy 49 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:09:19 My bro in law is a massive Saints fan. He ALWAYS wants to play Wigan in a final so “we can hammer the piesâ€.Whereas I would rather play anyone but the RS in a big game for fear of losing it to THEM.I guess that's the difference in realistic optimism and realistic pessimism. But then I remember when we sacked Mike Walker and the next game when Big Joe came in. I was on a solo holiday in Tunisia and a gobshite by the pool was giving me loads of shit. This was back in the day when you relied on newspapers and they were always a day late. 2 days after the game I never saw the Cnut again! UTFT Paul Ferry 50 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:11:00 Can someone on here help me out and tell me what a "boring welt" is. Never heard that one before. It sounds suspiciously dead woolly - yer great big wazzack, yer great big welt. The lights on my woolly radar are flashing. Any thoughts Mark? "Welt"? Mark Murphy 51 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:14:28 It's not wool, Paul - by eck as like - maybe South African?? Paul Ferry 52 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:16:40 So, a "welt" is "a leather rim sewn around the edge of a shoe upper to which the sole is attached" or "a red, swollen mark left on flesh by a blow or pressure".Fuck me, I'm either a "boring" "leather rim sewn around the edge of a shoe upper to which the sole is attached" or a "boring" "red, swollen mark left on flesh by a blow or pressure".That sounds dead ferrets Hovis, cobbles, and clogs yer big wazzack whippet. Paul Ferry 53 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:17:30 Well, at least we can rule out St. Helens and within 10 miles of that fine town. Dave Lynch 54 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:20:49 Anybody and I mean anybody who thinks we have a chance Tuesday is a deluded fool. The same applies in the Derby, you can happy clap all you want before upcoming games, you can kid yourself we're going to come good and at this present time kid yourself we will stay up on present form.Facts state we won't do any of the above 3, we are below abysmal and I fear our fate will be sealed this coming week with a further points deduction. Danny O’Neill 55 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:22:42 Paul, it was a long trip home, but always a pleasure to watch the blues, no matter what they put me and us through.Mark, I'll message to meet up at Chelsea. Mark Murphy 56 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:22:52 Tbh I think “wassock†is more Yorkshire than local “woolâ€My dad used to call me a daft bugger. I repeated this at St Anne's RC infants and was “expelled†by Sister Mary Jude who interpreted the word literally. My dad had to convince her it was a local term that was used innocently.Other “wool†terms of abuse were “yer daft aporth†(a half penny) and “yer daft twatâ€But never heard welt - I think it may be a spell checker thing of “melt†which is, I believe, a scouse term? Paul Ferry 57 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:29:45 M & W are miles apart on a keyboard Mark, although James might have fucking mutant massive fingers. Nice one on "aporth". That's a term of endearment isn't it? I think my granny in Hathersage (few miles from Sheffield) used to call me "daft aporth" or did she hate me after all, as I sometimes thought?Nice of Dave Lynch to drop in with his little rays of sunshine and erm "facts" apparently. Mark Murphy 58 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:30:02 Ironically Paul, my childhood home is within a 10 mile radius of Goodison Park… Paul Ferry 59 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:31:46 In St. Helens Mark? Neil Copeland 60 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:35:52 Dave 54, sorry but when there are only two teams involved there is always a chance of 3 points. Strange things happen in football and our run of bad form will end at some point. And fuck any points deduction that comes, we can do this if we believe.UTFTs Paul Ferry 61 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:37:58 I got a lot of comfort comparing Neil who drove all the way to the south coast yesterday with Dave Lynch. Thanks on both counts Neil. Neil Copeland 62 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:44:27 Paul, no problem mate. I am on the Talisker so in a feisty and defiant mood! Meant what I wrote though. Mark Murphy 63 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:56:20 Actually just checked Paul - 11 miles. So proper wool…I always thought it was 8 via the East Lancs. Paul Ferry 64 Posted 31/03/2024 at 21:57:40 That one mile Mark was the difference between Heaven and Hell. Rob Halligan 65 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:13:05 “Anybody, and I mean anybody, who thinks we have a chance Tuesday is a deluded foolâ€.In that cas,e Dave, I don't expect to see any posts from you after the game, complaining about the result and the performance, seeing as you pretty much know the outcome of the game. Also, does that mean all of us going to Newcastle are deluded? I remember the Skunk maggots game last season, when I kicked off on someone (can't remember) who was giving it loads on here after the game. He didn't like it, but I got put on posts moderation for weeks cos of it. Paul Ferry 66 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:21:06 I'm hoping that Dave Lynch had had a few Rob. I sometimes think that the doom and gloom brigade never give a thought to the several thousand who spend a small fortune to go all the way to the south coast on Saturday and then to Newcastle three days later at the other end of the country.Dave Lynch, willingly or not, called our away supporters who will be there on Tuesday with hope having spent yet more hard-earned money "deluded fools".I remember that from when you were on the way home from skunk-ville last season Rob. I sometimes think that the mods - as good as they are - might be a little bit more sympathetic to context and the degree of provocation and wumming at times. Danny O’Neill 67 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:27:31 Triggered Dave.I'm not making a 600 mile round trip to meet up with my brother and Newcastle United friend to not believe we can get something, Just like the 3000 others making that walk up the the steps. We can get something out of this. And we can take Lucifer's Children at Goodison.Well said Paul Ferry Neil Copeland 68 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:32:48 Danny and Rob, spot on. We are talking about a team that we hammered 3-0 at Goodison who have since suffered further injuries and suspensions. Too right we can win. Paul Ferry 69 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:33:59 And their best player, Gordon, is suspended, Neil. Dave Lynch 70 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:48:13 I'm not calling anyone who travels to see the team, god knows I put enough mileage in during the dark days of Bingham and Walker, and got a few kickings in the process.I've done my time on away days... dark cold winter nights in the North-East etc, but I'm trying to be honest in an "angry" sort of way.I can't for the life of me "believe or comprehend" how it has come to this; all I want is a footy team that gives me a bit of hope before a game, I don't have that (personally). And yes, Paul... I have been drinking, how else can a man cope with this shit.Apologies if anyone thought I was demeaning the away support, that was my last intention. I'm now going to finish the last of my Talisker Skye and retire to my bed.Goodnight one and all. Danny O’Neill 71 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:50:33 Fair one Dave,Have a good blue night. Paul Ferry 72 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:52:32 Nice one, Dave. You and Neil both on the Talisker! I meant what I said, I did doubt that you were insulting the fans. We probably rubbed shoulders at aways with Bingham and Walker. I do understand your utter despair. I feel it too. I had an awful night last night on the wine thinking about how it might all work out. But, unlike Neil, Rob, and Co, I didn't have to put up with that long trip, living 3,000 miles away!Enjoy the rest of the bottle! Edward Rogers 73 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:54:00 Anyone up for a ''Brighton'' moment? Neil Copeland 74 Posted 31/03/2024 at 22:55:52 Dave, good man and I am on the last of my Talisker Skye too! Ha! Sleep well mate and dream of better times. Neil Copeland 75 Posted 31/03/2024 at 23:00:02 Paul, I feel for fans who can't get to the games, it must be murder. The Easter weekend has definitely made the travelling easier than normal although the distances have never bothered me. The performances are a different matter of course but there is always the next game.We will be okay. Paul Ferry 76 Posted 31/03/2024 at 00:00:12 I think so too Neil. TBH I think I'm more scared about next season than this one. Chances are we might know what action has been taken against us by kick off Tuesday, I heard early in the week. One of the worst things Neil is like yesterday when we lose and it's 11 in the morning and even worse for 12-30PM/6-30AM kick offs and the whole day stretches out in front of you and you feel shite mate!Have a safe and winning trip Tuesday. Neil Copeland 77 Posted 01/04/2024 at 00:06:15 Yep, that must be hard.Keep believing and thanks. Rob Halligan 78 Posted 01/04/2024 at 15:27:26 Ellis Simms just scored again for Coventry. Mind was a simple tap in from about four yards out. Johan Elmgren 79 Posted 01/04/2024 at 15:47:15 Yeah Rob. In the summer I rooted for us keeping both Simms and Cannon, and to spend our money on a creative attacking midfielder and a right winger. To me it's glaringly obvious that we lack creativity in midfield and the shortage of goals is due to that, not poor forwards.Instead we sold them and spent above 40 million for Beto and Chermiti. The lack of creativity never adressed... But then again, if you're gonna play hoofball, you don't need creativity in midfield...To me, this is the biggest reason, that has put us in this situation. No plan from those who make decisions, regarding playingstyle and suitable players. Alternating between possession-oriented managers and negative defensive dinosaurs. There has been no consistency concerning how the team should play. And then each of these managers have brought in players to suit their own style of play. It has been a mishmash of styles and characterisics of players... From Martinez, Marco Silva and Ancelotti to dinosaurs like Allardyce, Rafa and now Dyche. Totally different styles, no red line...That, to me, is the biggest reason as to why we are were we are. Paul Ferry 80 Posted 01/04/2024 at 17:03:26 17 for Ellis Simms now. I hope we've got scouts all over the country today for these EFL games. Paul Ferry 81 Posted 01/04/2024 at 17:47:34 Cracking goal for Ipswich; great match; Saints equalise a minute later.
