Former Everton manager Frank Lampard has been talking about the challenges he has faced during his managerial roles to date.

He told The Diary Of A CEO Podcast:

"The bar-raisers can take some time to raise the bar, but the bar-lowerers can get you very quickly. That negativity can slip in and be really contagious. In football, winning is everything, and that is obviously relative to if you're Manchester City or Everton. Everton will win 35 per cent of games at best at the moment, and you know that. You know there will be 65 per cent of weeks that aren't that great. The bar-lowerers can lower that quickly. Whereas if you can get the bar-raisers to take control, you can get there."

Lampard continued by explaining how the structure of a club is imperative to success, pointing to the role of Manchester City's system in their recent success.

"The most important person at a club is, in my opinion, is the owner," he said. "It's about the structure at the top as they set the tone financially and on recruitment. You will only be as a good as the players you recruit. When I finished my first season at Everton, we just stayed up by the skin of our teeth and he [Moshiri] rang me to say congratulations but 'Frank, don't rest. 80 per cent of your work for next season will be done in the next month'. It was recruitment. 20 per cent will be what you do next year and 80 per cent will be bringing the right players."

In the Echo, Frank Lampard in a recent interview talking about his time in management said:

"The most important person at a club is, in my opinion, is the owner," he said. "It's about the structure at the top as they set the tone financially and on recruitment. You will only be as a good as the players you recruit. When I finished my first season at Everton, we just stayed up by the skin of our teeth and he [Moshiri] rang me to say congratulations but 'Frank, don't rest. 80 per cent of your work for next season will be done in the next month'. That Echo report of the interview is pretty bizarre. It sounds like a load of typical Frank-speak.

Not sure I have the patience or the inclination to listen to him for the whole thing – especially if that gem is the only Everton 'revelation'…

Talks more nonsense than Martinez — which is quite an achievement.

His mindset is just so inspiring.

"You know if you're Everton, you're going to win 30% of your games."

Bravo, Frank, and all for just £5M a year.

He can keep talking all he wants, it's very unlikely anyone will hire him to be a manager again...

What utter twaddle!! If he was any kind of manager, he would have showed leadership and control.

I'm sure Dyche isn't fretting about bar-lowerers and raisers. Complete bullshit!

Lampard is frankly ridiculous. Surely Chelsea are expected to win 70% of their games with the amount of money at their disposal and Frank won, what, 15% of them?

Football management is not for him — it's just not.

He was a disaster for Everton, setting us up to be perennial relegation contenders – and very good at it too.

Fortunately the man that knows nothing (or someone in the equally poorly upstairs lot) saw through the bullshit and got rid only for his previous employers to make the same mistake again and rehire him. Some people never learn. Remind you of anyone?

If he had stayed any longer we would have been relegated. With Dyche we have a chance as long as the goal scorers are brought in, of which I am yet to be convinced will happen.

Lampard is the chief lowerer of bars.

The genius decided to remove Doucoure from the group, only for the same player to keep us up.

Tit.

Lampard was arguably one of the best managers we've had since Benitez.

I really like Frank… but just not as manager of a football club.

Kieran, to be fair, the Benitez season started well until the usual magnitude of injuries kicked in. We were also so close to winning at Old Trafford.

It doesn't matter what we all think of recent Everton managers, as they have all been royally screwed with injuries to key players in a weak squad.

Now that Frank's in the twilight of his managerial career, maybe he'll head off to Saudi to compete against the equally capable Gerrard?

I don't believe for one second that. Moshiri rang him up and said that. The e players that were brought in were not ones that even us as supporters would have thought, oh they will help us avoid relegation.

Frank won't get a premier league gig again.

I can't see him in the Championship, so that leaves a future job at Celtic or Rangers (if he gets lucky) an MLS appointment like at his old club New York City, a national job at some minnow country, or moving to the middle east like Gerrard.

I don't like kicking people while they're down, well most people, but those two paragraphs really needed some self-editing from Frank. This is your reappearance and this is what you say?

I'm not going to go off but he was thee worst of my memory since I didn't have enough access to judge the 90s debacles. This babble and his absurd advice from Moshiri shows considerable ignorance and a lack of self awareness.

Trying to find a laugh here and this just jaw dropping.

Paul Kossof

Honestly, I believe it, mate. Since Moshiri arrived, the strategy has been spend as much money as possible and expect success.

I'm not letting Frank off the hook though; for a long time, I stood by him naively thinking he might be the man. He failed and failed even more spectacularly back at Chelsea. But yes, I well believe Moshiri thinks it's 80 percent about spending money as, in football matters, he is an idiot.

He did alright on the PR front. Get the fans engaged in the beginning. But he's no tactician nor good coach which is quite clear when we keep struggling to creat chances and keep losing late goals on counter-attack.

Proper tosser

Give me £5m and I'll talk about being a flaming brain surgeon - it will never happen, just like he'll never be a credible manager

Maybe a nice bloke and a great player

- I can't remember which brainless capitulation it was after, but he was nearly blubbering on a MOTD interview. A true leader would just not get to that …

Tosser, sorry, if I've offended anyone

He nailed it with his owner and recruitment comments but should have added circumstance plays no part in fan judgement - win or they'll have you out in 5 mins flat.

Barring a miracle fans will have Dyche out before we give up orange smarties for Lent

I don't think those comments are from Moshiri.

If you listen to the podcast he says "a great manager called me and told me this."
