Season › 2023-24 › News Under-18s keeper George Pickford signs 2-year deal Michael Kenrick 10/05/2024 7comments | Jump to last Everton Under-18s goalkeeper George Pickford has signed his first professional contract, a 2-year deal with the club. The 17-year-old (no relation to first-team keeper Jordan Pickford) has been with the Everton Academy since joining aged 11, and has come to the fore this season, his first full one with the Under-18s. On Pickford’s first professional contract, Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, said: “We’re really pleased to have George sign this deal with the Club. He’s been excellent this season with the Under-18s and getting minutes for the Under-21s, along with training sessions with Sean’s squad, highlights the pathway that is there for our young talents. “We are looking forward to seeing George continue his progression with us at Everton.” Reader Comments (7) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Sign young players with the same name and in the same position as our senior players. Slot them in when we're forced to sell. No one will notice. We won't even have to buy new shirts. Mike Hayes 2 Posted 10/05/2024 at 22:10:28 Good luck to the lad - is he related to Jordan by any chance 🤔🥳 Eric Myles 3 Posted 11/05/2024 at 04:01:24 No Pat, it's better than that, when someone offers us £80 million for our goalkeeper Pickford, we just send them the 18-year-old and keep Jordan!!! Alan J Thompson 4 Posted 12/05/2024 at 06:38:33 We seem to be doing well for young keepers with Virginia, Tyrer, Crellin, Leban, and now Pickford Jnr. Just need some outfield players to break through, or is it because keepers go out on loan and get games? Alan J Thompson 5 Posted 13/05/2024 at 05:44:52 I see on the BBC site that Man City may be offering £10M for another of our young keepers not mentioned above, apparently England U-17s keeper. If only we could get that keepers coach to have a look at some of the younger outfield players.
