Disclaimer () Rob Halligan 1 Posted 16/08/2024 at 20:16:10 Well, it didn't take long in the opening Premier League match of the season, for a Man Utd player to throw himself to the floor in an attempt to win a penalty. Thankfully not given by VAR. Rob Halligan 2 Posted 16/08/2024 at 20:43:10 Second dive by a Man Utd player, this time donkey Maguire, who was booked for his theatrics. Les Callan 3 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:05:51 Only the two of us watching this game then Rob ? Les Callan 4 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:29:41 Appalling refereeing that. Fulham guy gets booked for taking free kick too soon, while Man Utd players get away with not being 10 yards away. Amazing. Rob Halligan 5 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:31:13 Boring game, Les. Rob Halligan 6 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:34:52 Fulham goalkeeper nowhere near as busy as he was against us first game last season. Paul Ferry 7 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:38:01 Very dull dishwater game. Some BBC "pundits" have Man Utd finishing in the Ttop 4. No chance. Another up-and-down season for them. Ten Haag will not be there this time next year. The Guardian has us finishing 11th. Rob Halligan 8 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:39:20 Great move by Ten Haag… 0-0 with ten minutes to go, so what does he do, throws on two centre-backs! 😂😂😂😂 Les Callan 9 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:42:31 Master tactician!!!! Mike Gaynes 10 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:46:45 Scuffy goal. Mike Gaynes 11 Posted 16/08/2024 at 21:53:40 I hate seeing United celebrate. Hate it. Joe McMahon 12 Posted 16/08/2024 at 22:01:33 It's so predictable isn't it, Man Utd were always going to win late. Allen Rodgers 13 Posted 16/08/2024 at 22:03:25 Fulham didn't take their chances. Simple as that. Rob Halligan 14 Posted 16/08/2024 at 22:33:45 Don't worry, Mike, they won't be celebrating winning anything this season. Danny O’Neill 15 Posted 16/08/2024 at 22:59:58 Very scrappy game with both teams giving the ball away to each other.I actually thought Fulham looked the more likely to snatch it, but I don't think you predict football.Man Utd could be in for a tough season. Dale Self 16 Posted 17/08/2024 at 12:32:58 Arse Slot. That's all. Cmon you other 1878 club, CMON! Neil Tyrrell 17 Posted 17/08/2024 at 12:42:24 Arle Snot,Kalvin Philips ended up at Ipswich? Wish him all the best today if he gets on. Dale Self 18 Posted 17/08/2024 at 13:06:29 Decent chance for Ipswich, needed a different path to the box or a right foot there. Steve Shave 19 Posted 17/08/2024 at 13:09:44 I said it before the end of last season, Ipswich are going to surprise a few this year. McKenna is the real deal. Tom Bowers 20 Posted 17/08/2024 at 13:15:36 Watching Man Utd yesterday, I feel Fulham will be kicking themselves. Their work in the final third was awful at times and although giving tit for tat in long periods, one sensed Man Utd would steal it, as Liverpool do many times.I think many teams are pretty much on a par with each other but the rich teams always seem to have the ammunition to win games.Everton, like Fulham, have very little up front and will probably finish in mid-table again. Anthony A Hughes 21 Posted 17/08/2024 at 17:30:10 It'll be interesting to see if Emery gets a tune out of Onana. Ian Edwards 22 Posted 17/08/2024 at 17:34:14 Onana just scored for Villa. 😂 Frank Fearns 23 Posted 17/08/2024 at 17:37:00 Here we go... Onana just scored in 3 minutes v Hammers. Waving to the Villa supporters. Not sure he kissed the badge?! David Cooper 24 Posted 17/08/2024 at 17:45:47 Onana scores a header from a corner inside 4 minutes! Annika Herbert 25 Posted 17/08/2024 at 19:40:21 Did anyone notice how well Onana played for Villa this evening? A pretty impressive start for someone many on here didn't rate. Sam Hoare 26 Posted 17/08/2024 at 22:45:36 To cap off a wonderful day, Onana (who I thought we missed today) gave a MotM display (first of many) on debut for Villa.A Villa fansite said: “Onana is a cheat code. A manager's dream. You can be outclassed tactically, and Onana will get you out of jail time and time again by putting out so many fires. But when you have a tactically astute manager in Emery, and forwards like Watkins and Rogers, then you're onto a winner. He covers ground as if he's on a 7-a-side pitch. And his technical quality on the ball is massively underrated. Why Man Utd didn't go for him, I have no idea.” Les Callan 27 Posted 17/08/2024 at 23:55:53 I was amazed that Alan Smith chose Onana as MotM. Apart from his goal he was woeful. Les Callan 28 Posted 17/08/2024 at 00:03:08 Are there two Onanas? Because I don't recognise the one described by Sam. Phil Sammon 29 Posted 18/08/2024 at 00:47:46 I think most people's frustration with Onana was that he clearly had ability but never took the game by the scruff of its neck. Oliver Molloy 31 Posted 18/08/2024 at 14:34:59 The lead commentator in Brentford v Palace is the worst I have ever heard.Long periods during the play saying nothing - she obviously hasn't a clue with players' names etc.Sky must be short-staffed or ticking boxes, awful. Paul Ferry 32 Posted 18/08/2024 at 16:50:22 don't care what the score is so long as haaland does not score Rob Halligan 34 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:11:39 A lot of wheeling and dealing now going on Paul, as loads try and figure a way of getting Haaland into their team. Going to take some doing! Paul Ferry 35 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:19:06 I'LL take one goal a game Rob; Haaland has been mentioned once in commentary since he scored Shane Corcoran 36 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:29:58 Anyone see the offside for Jackson? He was just in the City half but the free was given on the edge of the City box. What's his name the ref said it's from where he became involved in the play which left Neville, and me, completely perplexed. Dave Cashen 37 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:31:37 Come on PF.That was rare. Immense power. Poise, and the deftest of finishes.Credit where its due mate Paul Ferry 38 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:34:37 Fantasy footy Dave, he's not in my team or Rob's mate. Paul Ferry 39 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:35:23 Anthony Taylor Shane. Shane Corcoran 40 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:39:17 No, the lad in the studio from Tranmere trying to explain it Paul. Paul Ferry 41 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:41:33 Sorry mate. Tranmere, got to be out great Steve Simonsen! Dave Cashen 42 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:42:14 Oh, I see Paul. Fair enough. Paul Ferry 43 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:52:46 Chelsea 46 players; what is it, 25 or 27 in Prem squad? They will be pretty keen to sell last week of August; might pick something up. Wonder if Sterling will get into the squad? Shane Corcoran 44 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:53:41 Mike Dean Paul Ferry 45 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:57:51 Ah, yes, bald fella, annoying, didn't like us Paul Ferry 46 Posted 18/08/2024 at 17:59:28 Haaland yellow, good news!!! Paul Ferry 47 Posted 18/08/2024 at 18:07:54 Amazing, Haaland has touched the ball twice since he scored - absolute archetypal poacher and more Rob Halligan 48 Posted 18/08/2024 at 18:19:01 Poor by the Chelsea goalkeeper for the second Man City goal. He really should have saved the shot by Kovacic. Paul Ferry 49 Posted 18/08/2024 at 18:19:10 crap goalkeeping there Edward Rogers 50 Posted 18/08/2024 at 18:19:13 One more for City and we're off the bottom😜 Tony Abrahams 52 Posted 18/08/2024 at 18:21:02 Just had one eye on the Chelsea v city game, and was thinking that City, must the first team to be able to truly tease their opponents, no matter how good they are, since the back pass law was introduced, and then when I came back in the room it was 2-0. A wonderful football team. Paul Ferry 53 Posted 18/08/2024 at 18:27:22 They haven't even raised their game Tony. Tony Abrahams 54 Posted 18/08/2024 at 20:17:19 That's very ominous Paul, because although I only had one eye on the game, Chelsea, and in particular Palmer, looked very good at times today, but you could see the class in Manchester City, the way they began to keep the ball and sicken their opponents, so perhaps they have been told they are getting a ten point deduction, and better get a move on if they want to win the league once again! Ian Edwards 55 Posted 18/08/2024 at 20:19:58 Just read that Branthwaite linked with Liverpool. Bet 365 odds have him more likely to play for Liverpool at end of window than stay with Everton. 4/5 Liverpool 6/4 Everton. I'd like to think we would never sell to them but you can bet they will as we need the money for signings. Paul Ferry 56 Posted 18/08/2024 at 20:22:51 It will be more than ten surely Tony? But really really hard to be anything like scientific as we are in the dark. There's clearly been a lot of legal machinations by City's top silks so I won't be surprised if the penalty ends up being on the soft side. But what message does that give. I suspect that what City have done, not in one year but as a pattern, is worse than Rangers. On that basis, City should be demoted. Imagine what the chaos would be if that ever happened! Neil Tyrrell 57 Posted 18/08/2024 at 20:43:28 Whatever punishment City get won't take back all the trophies and years of dominance they and their fans have enjoyed, and I suspect the punishment will be light relative to the amount of charges. Even today they got the lion's share of calls. Les Callan 58 Posted 18/08/2024 at 20:48:21 According to the red Echo website, £75m. Tony Abrahams 59 Posted 18/08/2024 at 20:48:34 Everything points to them receiving a similar punishment, Paul, but because they have got so much money, which usually equals power, then I don't think many will expect them to receive the punishment that they deserve. Although I have always been of the opinion that rules are there to be broken, especially when they are just there to protect the chosen few whilst stifling the majority. Les Callan 60 Posted 18/08/2024 at 20:49:03 For Branthwaite that is. Rob Halligan 61 Posted 18/08/2024 at 21:05:11 Rumours that Man City could be handed a mammoth 80 points deduction. Hope so, let them face a year or two down in the Championship. As for the Branthwaite rumours… don't make me fucking laugh! 😂😂😂Les, the red Echo say there are no credible sources for the Branthwaite rumour, so highly likely a load of RS fans have put bets on and it's just escalated. Neil Tyrrell 62 Posted 18/08/2024 at 21:27:51 Didn't Rangers have to go 3 divisions down or something like that? I'd rather see that for Man City, 80 points would see them relegated but they'd just come straight back up. Tony Abrahams 63 Posted 18/08/2024 at 21:41:01 I think Liverpool have got more chance of signing Brainthwaite than Man City have got of receiving an 80-point deduction, Rob. I definitely wouldn't put anything past this Farhad Moshiri, the way he has been absently running our club, because I don't believe he has got any real regard for Everton Football Club, or the supporters, anymore.I've just put my iPad down and received a WhatsApp with David Ornstein of The Athletic saying it's a done deal. We will see but if it is true then I expect it's going to cause absolute murder. Michael Kenrick 64 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:03:56 Jamie Vardy...37 years old. The Old Fox in the Box leading the line for The Foxes. Bill Gall 65 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:08:09 See Richarlison ony a sub for spurs Danny O’Neill 66 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:13:05 Tottenham on top but early doors. Danny O’Neill 67 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:32:19 Deserved. We will have be on toes at the weekend. Billy Shears 68 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:34:11 The Spuds are 0-1 up. Paul Ferry 69 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:37:41 Jeez, Chelsea now buy Felix. Utter madness there. That's 14 new signings and a new manager. Maddison is looking back at his best. Dave Cashen 70 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:38:31 Spurs fans still hating on Sol Campbell.Imagine this place if Calvert-Lewin signed or Liverpool on a free? Danny O’Neill 72 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:51:04 Our eight back, whoever that ent ends up being will be facing Son. Paul Ferry 73 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:53:40 Danny, you okay, mate? "Our eight back, whoever that ent ends up being"? Joe McMahon 74 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:56:09 Calvert-Lewin aint going to Liverpool, Dave, but as Paul says, Gordon you could see happening. I'm just glad the Branthwaite to Liverpool rumour over the weekend has disappeared. Dave Cashen 75 Posted 19/08/2024 at 20:57:58 It won't happen, Paul, I was just being silly.Son looks good, Danny. Maddison too. Tough game coming up. Vast improvements all round needed.Didn't hear of the Branthwaite to Liverpool rumors, Joe. Thank fuck. My weekend was bad enough. Paul Ferry 76 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:05:21 Is there any chance that Branthwaite and Garner might play v Spurs, Garner going to right-back? Keep Calvert-Lewin and for feck's sake, play someone who can play tight behind him: Ndiaye? Not sure how much more I can take of O'Neil either who has started this season as he ended the last one, but worse. Paul Ferry 77 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:17:30 37-year-old scores; good age group that. Michael Kenrick 78 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:17:51 And that old bloke nods in a beauty!Didn't even jump.1-1.ps: Not sure how much more I can take of O'Neil either... Yea, Paul, Danny's a fuckin pain in the arse, init. Paul Ferry 79 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:26:49 I hope he's ok MK! Rob Halligan 80 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:30:16 Four Spurs subs coming on, and Richarlison isn't one of them. He will start getting really impatient if he doesn't get a game, even at this early stage of the season. Still time in this game though for him to make an appearance. Dave Cashen 81 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:32:28 Vardy clean through. half the goal to aim at. hits the keeper from five yards out. Paul Ferry 82 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:32:33 Surely an early September/late August loan bid Rob? But would Dyche play him? Michael Kenrick 83 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:33:27 Paul, you daft bugger:Dwight O'Neil or Dwight McNeil?Or don't you know the difference? Paul Ferry 84 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:37:06 Hahahaha, I'm wading through Pepys's Diary, give me a break MK. Paul Ferry 85 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:38:20 Only this fella and the twat who last managed the shite make this many subs at one time. Paul Ferry 86 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:39:34 This Archie Gray might end up being a star, although Spuds have a good tradition of fucking up bright young things. Paul Ferry 87 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:40:21 HA ha was that Vardy shouting fuck off at those Spuds lads as he went off. Rob Halligan 88 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:42:48 Marseille want Maupay on loan. If he goes, he won't come back seeing as this is the last year of his contract. Paul Ferry 89 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:52:52 You bring good news, Gringo Halligan. Tony Abrahams 90 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:55:08 I'd keep him, Rob, because I'm sure someone will pay some money for him before the window closes. And if Dominic leaves, he might even be a good bet to play alongside Ndiaye and Lindstrøm, who I'm sure prefer the ball on the floor. Rob Halligan 91 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:58:37 Skippy doesn't look too happy with that Richarlison header. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Bill Gall 92 Posted 19/08/2024 at 21:59:59 Richarlison on with 9 minutes to go. Has he been injured and just recovering? Paul Ferry 93 Posted 19/08/2024 at 22:00:23 Oh dear, Richy lad — so much time and he saw it coming… Dave Lynch 94 Posted 19/08/2024 at 22:03:54 I'm getting paranoid... I think.Every team I've seen so far have pace up front and out wide.I keep thinking... "I'm dreading playing them!" Dave Cashen 95 Posted 19/08/2024 at 22:04:24 "Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher coming up"Not on my telly they're not. Rob Halligan 96 Posted 19/08/2024 at 22:26:13 Dave # 95…Put Sky Sports News on at 10:30 for Hold the Back Pages, or whatever it's called. It should hopefully clear up all the Branthwaite to the RS rubbish once and for all. Danny O’Neill 97 Posted 20/08/2024 at 07:35:07 Paul, I know I shouldn't post on my phone!!Right back!!Having watched that last night, I don't see a reason we can't get something out of Tottenham. Phil (Kelsall) Roberts 98 Posted 20/08/2024 at 08:07:22 Wonder if we could get JJK on loan for the season or at least until Dyche trusts Patterson. Paul Hewitt 99 Posted 20/08/2024 at 08:42:23 Danny. I know 3 reason why we won't getting anything from Spurs. Holgate, Keane and Doucoure Danny O’Neill 100 Posted 20/08/2024 at 09:02:04 Made me smile Paul!!I see Chelsea have just signed another striker but Gallagher is on his way to Atlectio Madrid.Nevertheless, they now apparently now have over 50 players. Good luck managing that as they can only name 25 apart from a few U23s, like everyone else. Danny O’Neill 101 Posted 20/08/2024 at 18:25:22 Powerful stuff.LinkAndy Burnham for CEO.
