I can't say your third paragraph is a fact, Ged, but I have very similar feelings.

I've been helping my son's team and a really good little infectious footballer, has not long joined the team. I love watching him, just like I love watching anyone who just wants to play, but last week he went past a player and got a little kick and went down.

I was more embarrassed by the referee for giving a free kick, and when I questioned the little fella, he said “he caught me”.

"I know, lad, I was standing right next to yer, but would you have dived if you hadn't ran the ball out of play?"

He smiled, I gave him a little nod back. Over the next few months, I will definitely try and knock any cheating out of all the kids, although it's not going to be easy because football has definitely changed.

I think the Dagenham supporters came for a fight!! They certainly didn’t seem to be watching the match!

Star of the show was Adam. Having watched him for the U21s last week, he didn’t look out of place stepping up to the senior team.

Great for him to get the minutes and nice to see the manager come up to him at the end, shake his hand, have a few words and pat him on the back.

75 very much needed minutes, Paul, and a performance of some good, some bad and some indifference.

He hasn’t played a full game at senior level since last January, after first getting used to the club, he actually done his hamstring that needed surgery, on the track in wavertee, whilst training with the sprinters, six days before he was due to return to pre season.

You need games I keep telling him, you are playing every other week for the twenty one’s, in between training with the first team, and although you want to be with the first team you need games.

Pre - Season, is all about getting fit, and after the initial shock to the body, that this necessity brings, you then get loads of games in quick succession to get your match fitness back. You have simply not had enough games and it’s definitely true that there is no substitute for playing games.

He wasn’t happy with his performance but finally agreed with me that he definitely needs games before adding that under 21 football, simply doesn’t prepare you for senior football.

That’s why I was always hard on you when you was growing up lad, (I wasn’t that bad but listen to him and his mum, they would make it sound like I was like pater Sutcliffe) because professional football is an absolute brutal game, and being away from home when you’re a home bird, can also be a big obstacle, when your confidence needs a little boost.

My own view is that they should convert him into a left back, but that’s just my own view after watching him develop over the years.

A big public thanks to Danny O’Neil, who is looking and sounding a lot better. I enjoyed his company and his sensible views, and if anyone has been through the mill and slowly looks to be coming out the other side, then it’s Danny👍

Their players lounge is better than Goodison’s. It’s been years, but definitely the one I went into.

As for Adam I think he needs to be more about himself, a nice quiet kid with no ego, doesn’t really realise how good he is and how good he can become, first game back after a year he was bound to find it hard going, I only saw the second half didn’t realise he was playing until you mentioned it here on ToffeeWeb, he’ll get better the more he plays.

Now are you going tomorrow night that is the question? A massive game game for the Blues no matter who is in the dugout, maybe the crowd will get a victory out of these players— hope you are part of it.

I know a lot of people rely on the television, because it would otherwise be impossible for them to watch Everton, Dave, but personally, I don’t particularly like watching Everton, on the telly.

I understand why Everton, have appointed Moyes, and I think I understand both the pro’s & con’s, of why these new kids on the block, have gone for what looks like nothing more than a safe pair of hands, imo.

It’s crying out for innovation, imo, but if Everton go down then we will only be left with desperation (don’t start me - I still think that relegation would not be the worst thing now we are hopefully over our financial difficulties) but this still leaves me very undecided about attending Goodison, because I would have much preferred some innovation.

Who wouldn’t prefer innovation? I know….. so I’m still thinking it through Dave, and I’m more concerned about finding a solution for you to carry on watching Everton, at Bramley-Moore, if I’m being honest!

For many reasons, we don't always get to go to the match.

I prefer being there as I can see the whole picture. I'm often not watching the player on the ball.

Watching on the box is very different. It makes me feel like I have no control. Not that I do anyway!!

Anyway, my son uses language his mother would often scorn at him for. In Dyche's last match, I thought some internal door repairs or replacements were on the cards!!

Tony, I watched the game last night, and thought your Adam had a decent game, culminating in playing a major part in Millwall's second goal.

A nice little run down the left wing followed by a good weighted pass to the overlapping team mate who put in a good cross for De-Norre to slam home at the back stick.

He tried to keep things simple, always finding a team mate with his passes. Put a couple of crosses in as well, which unfortunately were just a little over hit. Looks like he's got a good left foot on him……bit like meself!!

Tony, congratulations to Adam on his breakthrough to the 11. Clearly you are a top trainer. (Hey, I'm sure you coached him up gently!)

Danny, so glad to hear you are doing better. Wishing you all the best as always, and looking forward to meeting you this year as we should have last year (damned train strike!).
