We dodged a bullet there. Rob Halligan 5 Posted 11/01/2025 at 16:59:44 Wow, Plymouth beat Brentford, at Brentford! Ed Prytherch 6 Posted 11/01/2025 at 17:01:19 Rob, Brendan Galloway played for Plymouth. Rob Halligan 7 Posted 11/01/2025 at 17:02:49 Ed, maybe we should have held back and then gone for Thomas Frank? Mike Gaynes 8 Posted 11/01/2025 at 17:07:27 Thanks for the chuckle, Rob. I needed it this morning. Ed Prytherch 9 Posted 11/01/2025 at 17:23:01 Frank underestimated Plymouth and it was too late when he brought on Mbueno, Wissa, Lewis Potter but he was gracious at the final whistle. I still like him but it is a few years since he won an FA Cup game. Paul Birmingham 10 Posted 11/01/2025 at 17:24:35 I'm sure Lewis Gibson also plays for Plymouth.Amazing what spirit and belief can do for a football team! Mike Gaynes 11 Posted 11/01/2025 at 18:35:59 Just spotted an old friend. Watching Man City's kids cut up Salford City, and Luke Garbutt is at LB for Salford. Jeff Armstrong 12 Posted 11/01/2025 at 18:45:56 Hes playing LCB, Mike. Mike Gaynes 13 Posted 11/01/2025 at 18:51:36 Whatever he's playing, Jeff, he's doing it pretty slowly...... He dropped down a league this season. He was at Blackpool for a couple of years. Rob Hooton 14 Posted 12/01/2025 at 14:23:00 Watching a team of part timers playing decent football against Spurs gives me hope that well see an improvement from Everton this season.Tamworth putting in a tremendous performance thus far. Rob Halligan 15 Posted 12/01/2025 at 14:31:51 And nearly scored a last minute winner. Extra time now. Rob Halligan 16 Posted 12/01/2025 at 14:34:33 Spurs bringing their big guns on now for extra time. Edward Rogers 17 Posted 12/01/2025 at 16:52:35 For all those who berate Calvert-Lewin, take a good look at how shite Havertz is, and he cost a helluva lot more. Tony Abrahams 18 Posted 12/01/2025 at 17:21:42 Just reading that the 4th Round draw follows this game and I've got a sneaking feeling that, if Man Utd get through this game then their name might already be on the cup? Ged Simpson 19 Posted 12/01/2025 at 17:33:58 Watched a few games involving youngsters at "big" Premier League clubs. So many make Tom Daley look like a crap diver. Is it the sign of old age to suggest a combination of the coaches, TV and social media is creating a generation of cheating, diving pantomime dames? And I hate it when Everton babies do it too. May be because I played county rugby. I would love to see one of these play a game. Ian Bennett 20 Posted 12/01/2025 at 17:37:08 Sterling looks finished. Mike Gaynes 21 Posted 12/01/2025 at 17:42:55 Time for penalties. Tony Abrahams 22 Posted 12/01/2025 at 17:50:09 I can't say your third paragraph is a fact, Ged, but I have very similar feelings.I've been helping my son's team and a really good little infectious footballer, has not long joined the team. I love watching him, just like I love watching anyone who just wants to play, but last week he went past a player and got a little kick and went down.I was more embarrassed by the referee for giving a free kick, and when I questioned the little fella, he said “he caught me”."I know, lad, I was standing right next to yer, but would you have dived if you hadn't ran the ball out of play?"He smiled, I gave him a little nod back. Over the next few months, I will definitely try and knock any cheating out of all the kids, although it's not going to be easy because football has definitely changed. Mike Gaynes 23 Posted 12/01/2025 at 17:54:03 Ah, crap. I hate seeing Man Utd fans celebrate. Paul Ferry 24 Posted 12/01/2025 at 17:57:48 Well. done, Man Utd. Thoroughly deserved. What a performance. Glad they got through. Paul Smith 25 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:01:06 I like Amerin, he's got that something about him. Jealous we can't get a manager like that. One day hopefully. Ed Prytherch 26 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:02:45 Man Utd deserved it. The penalty award against McGuire was crap, just like Havertz, and Man Utd certainly had the better goalkeeper. Brian Williams 28 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:06:01 Put the suits away boys. 🤣🙈 Gerry Quinn 29 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:07:07 Come on Argyle... Chris James 30 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:07:35 And Man City get Orient! Meh Paul Ferry 31 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:11:37 Made up Arsenal lost - timewasters, snides, playing a player (we all know who he is) whose multiple rape accusations are now with the CPS Oliver Molloy 32 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:12:34 I thought Man Utd deserved their win today and agree with Paul @ 25.Amerin looks like he is getting up to speed with the league – seems like he takes no shit from "star" players. Man Utd might have finally got the right guy. Pete Hughes 33 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:16:09 I can't agree the Mancs deserved their penalty shoot-out win!? I thought the Gooners had enough chances to win two games! Paul Ferry 34 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:18:25 Perhaps that Arsenal penalty tells us why we have VAR. Cheating twat Havertz and poetic the penalty was saved and he missed his. Liam Mogan 35 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:23:00 If they are going to scrap replays then they should have scrapped extra time.Tamworth denied a replay which would have been windfall for them. If extra time would have had pens and a decent chance of progressing.Everything now skewed towards bigger teams. Paul Ferry 36 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:24:46 Chances that were missed you mean Pete H by 4 players a gooner is ripping apart on 606. Yes, of course Man Utd deserved their win after a terrific defensive play when down to 10 men, and had chances of their own with the added injustice of the 'penalty'. I thought that Fernandes was terrific. Nigel Scowen 37 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:37:43 100% Liam, a real shame. Paul Ferry 38 Posted 12/01/2025 at 18:38:01 With overlapping full-backs, we'll batter them, Ajay.Good shout, Liam. The "higher division teams" will nearly always be much fitter and ready for extra time. Would also be more exciting. That result was hardly in doubt with Spurs' extra-tme subs. Tony Abrahams 39 Posted 12/01/2025 at 21:01:13 They say a week is a long time in politics, but sometimes it seems a lot longer in football.I thought United were in disarray but I watched them at Anfield and again today, and they suddenly look like a team with loads of heart.I was listening to somebody explain to me that their new manager, has identified the deadwood and banished it to one side?Im not sure if this is entirely true but hopefully David Moyes can do something similar, although my current feelings are that if this was to happen, then we would be starting games with no more than seven men.Things change quickly when you get the right man at the helm, so hopefully this is what The Friedkins have gone and done?Leeds v Millwall, Paul, but first Millwall have got to beat Dagenham, and if a load of Eastenders end up at the den tomorrow night, then that might end up even tastier?Ive just found out my stepson is making his long awaited first start tomorrow night, so hopefully hes prepared for a proper battle 🤞 Paul Ferry 40 Posted 13/01/2025 at 07:44:05 Brilliant, Tony. You and especially your wife must be so proud, I know you go down there to see him. Don't if it's uncomfortable, but if you can share his name I'll be rooting for him, though after 3 trips to Millwall the last being that FA Cup game where I was at Surrey Quays, Millwall are not up there with my fave clubs! Tony Abrahams 41 Posted 13/01/2025 at 17:09:25 They remind me of Evertonians, on steroids, listening to some of the stick they give out to every shit cunt under the sun, Paul. The kid's name is Adam Mayor, and I'm going to meet Danny O'Neill outside because he went on a little scouting mission for me last week, and he said he wouldn't mind watching tonight.💙 Paul Ferry 42 Posted 13/01/2025 at 18:27:24 Cheers Tony.I'll be watching with real interest. Have a great night! Paul Ferry 43 Posted 13/01/2025 at 23:06:46 I see that he got 75 minutes Tony. I wasn't able to find a link but it sounds like he did alright to get 75 under his belt. Hope you enjoyed it! Pretty small crowd for a London derby. Danny O'Neill 44 Posted 14/01/2025 at 10:11:42 Great night last night in the New Den cold, amongst great company.I think the Dagenham supporters came for a fight!! They certainly didnt seem to be watching the match!Star of the show was Adam. Having watched him for the U21s last week, he didnt look out of place stepping up to the senior team.Great for him to get the minutes and nice to see the manager come up to him at the end, shake his hand, have a few words and pat him on the back. Tony Abrahams 45 Posted 14/01/2025 at 10:18:04 75 very much needed minutes, Paul, and a performance of some good, some bad and some indifference. He hasnt played a full game at senior level since last January, after first getting used to the club, he actually done his hamstring that needed surgery, on the track in wavertee, whilst training with the sprinters, six days before he was due to return to pre season. You need games I keep telling him, you are playing every other week for the twenty ones, in between training with the first team, and although you want to be with the first team you need games.Pre - Season, is all about getting fit, and after the initial shock to the body, that this necessity brings, you then get loads of games in quick succession to get your match fitness back. You have simply not had enough games and its definitely true that there is no substitute for playing games. He wasnt happy with his performance but finally agreed with me that he definitely needs games before adding that under 21 football, simply doesnt prepare you for senior football.Thats why I was always hard on you when you was growing up lad, (I wasnt that bad but listen to him and his mum, they would make it sound like I was like pater Sutcliffe) because professional football is an absolute brutal game, and being away from home when youre a home bird, can also be a big obstacle, when your confidence needs a little boost. My own view is that they should convert him into a left back, but thats just my own view after watching him develop over the years.A big public thanks to Danny ONeil, who is looking and sounding a lot better. I enjoyed his company and his sensible views, and if anyone has been through the mill and slowly looks to be coming out the other side, then its Danny👍 Danny O'Neill 46 Posted 14/01/2025 at 10:22:28 Great night for Tony and Michelle last night as we sat in the New Den cold. Great company.Star of the show was young Adam. A valuable 75 minutes under his belt and, having watched him play for the U21s last week, he didnt look out of place whatsoever making the step up to the senior team.Nice touch by the manager at the end as the teams walked off. He called Adam back, shook his hand, had a quick chat and then a pat on the shoulder.I think the Dagenham supporters came for a fight!! They certainly werent watching the match.Into the players lounge. One of the door assistances has adopted Everton and was practicing his Scouse accent!!Their players lounge is better than Goodisons. Its been years, but definitely the one I went into.Well done Adam. Dave Abrahams 47 Posted 14/01/2025 at 10:49:23 Tony (45), I think you are made up with Danny and how he looks now after the last six months of what he has experienced, keep it up Danny, best of luck for the future. As for Adam I think he needs to be more about himself, a nice quiet kid with no ego, doesnt really realise how good he is and how good he can become, first game back after a year he was bound to find it hard going, I only saw the second half didnt realise he was playing until you mentioned it here on ToffeeWeb, hell get better the more he plays. Now are you going tomorrow night that is the question? A massive game game for the Blues no matter who is in the dugout, maybe the crowd will get a victory out of these players— hope you are part of it. Dave Abrahams 48 Posted 14/01/2025 at 10:51:26 Thanks Michael but I understand! Tony Abrahams 49 Posted 14/01/2025 at 12:02:24 I know a lot of people rely on the television, because it would otherwise be impossible for them to watch Everton, Dave, but personally, I dont particularly like watching Everton, on the telly.I understand why Everton, have appointed Moyes, and I think I understand both the pros & cons, of why these new kids on the block, have gone for what looks like nothing more than a safe pair of hands, imo.Its crying out for innovation, imo, but if Everton go down then we will only be left with desperation (dont start me - I still think that relegation would not be the worst thing now we are hopefully over our financial difficulties) but this still leaves me very undecided about attending Goodison, because I would have much preferred some innovation.Who wouldnt prefer innovation? I know….. so Im still thinking it through Dave, and Im more concerned about finding a solution for you to carry on watching Everton, at Bramley-Moore, if Im being honest! Danny O'Neill 50 Posted 14/01/2025 at 17:11:37 For many reasons, we don't always get to go to the match.I prefer being there as I can see the whole picture. I'm often not watching the player on the ball.Watching on the box is very different. It makes me feel like I have no control. Not that I do anyway!!Anyway, my son uses language his mother would often scorn at him for. In Dyche's last match, I thought some internal door repairs or replacements were on the cards!!Good luck to all of our US, Australian and New Zealand, cousins, the Scouse ex-pats and various others around the globe tomorrow night. Your dedication is as solid as any Evertonian. Rob Halligan 51 Posted 14/01/2025 at 17:40:52 Tony, I watched the game last night, and thought your Adam had a decent game, culminating in playing a major part in Millwall's second goal. A nice little run down the left wing followed by a good weighted pass to the overlapping team mate who put in a good cross for De-Norre to slam home at the back stick. He tried to keep things simple, always finding a team mate with his passes. Put a couple of crosses in as well, which unfortunately were just a little over hit. Looks like he's got a good left foot on him……bit like meself!! Mike Gaynes 52 Posted 14/01/2025 at 17:49:04 Tony, congratulations to Adam on his breakthrough to the 11. Clearly you are a top trainer. (Hey, I'm sure you coached him up gently!)Danny, so glad to hear you are doing better. Wishing you all the best as always, and looking forward to meeting you this year as we should have last year (damned train strike!). Paul Ferry 53 Posted 14/01/2025 at 17:50:12 Does this mean that I have to want Millwall to win from now on? Danny O'Neill 54 Posted 14/01/2025 at 21:11:42 Thanks Mike, I look forward to meeting you. Well get photographic evidence. If youre struggling for a ticket, Im sure there are lots of Evertonians who will help you out, myself included.Tony, thank you. Hopefully see you tomorrow night.Step forward Rob “Leighton” Halligan!!
