Everton U21s 0 - 3 Blackburn Rovers U21s

Everton Under-21s concluded their pre-season programme with a 3-0 defeat against Blackburn Rovers at Finch Farm.

The visitors led at the break thanks to a 40th-minute strike from Rhys Doherty but the scoreline was harsh on the Blues after they had created far more opportunities in the opening 45 minutes.

Reece Welch headed just over the crossbar early on, Francis Okoronkwo was also narrowly off target after a slick passing move and Martin Sherif’s effort was deflected wide.

Then Jenson Metcalfe had a decent shot well saved just before the break. However, the second period was all Rovers. Tom Bloxham and Igor Tyjon added two more goals – and only some excellent goalkeeping from Harry Tyrer prevented more damage.

The young Blues kick off the Premier League 2 campaign on Friday against, ironically, Blackburn Rovers in Southport.

Well, Dazza and Snods mentioned on the Roma commentary that Everton U21s had lost 3-0 to Blackburn Rovers at Finch Farm today.

I can't seem to find anything at all about this game, and the new Everton website has taken a massive step backwards in terms of providing meaningful information about such things... like perhaps telling us who played???

Nothing, nada, zilch.

Ah nevermind... the first fixture of the new Premier League 2 season is also against Blackburn Rovers next Friday, so we can just bide our time until then.

Ah, thanks, Tom.

I stupidly followed the Matches | U21 | Results, where there is nothing.

Their sub menu on the Club Site | News page that has the U21 tab is too far down the page so that I have to scroll down to see it. Feeble excuse, I know. But this new layout drives me mad!

I agree, Michael,

The whole layout is poor and quite why they can't put a lot more interesting stuff about our great club on the website is beyond me.

We don't seem to have that problem on TW!!
