Everton and Castore have taken inspiration from a baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and New York Giants that was held at Goodison Park almost 100 years ago for the club’s third kit.

It continues a celebration of the historic ground in its final season as the home of Everton FC.

The game between Chicago White Sox and New York Giants took place almost a century ago, on 23 October 1924.

“We have used Goodison as our inspiration for all three of this season’s kits. The home kit is a classic Everton look but with a nod to the Club’s first ever crest. The away kit is inspired by great Goodison night matches and the famous atmosphere created under the lights. This [third] kit is about acknowledging Goodison’s versatility and the stage it has provided over more than 130 years,” explained Tom Beahon, co-founder of Castore.

“We wanted to remind people that it has not only hosted the great Everton teams of decades gone by but been a part of the wider sporting fabric and story.”

The new kit is available to order now

Does anyone actually buy the 3rd kit?

Just seems pointless to me tbh.

What a suitably washed-out colour for this club.

Somewhere between faded custard and weak milky tea.

Such is my sustainable outlook, I will be sticking with the Chang 07-08 kit for the forthcoming season.

Historic Baseball Game at Goodison?

Maybe we could host one in the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in October (the 100th Anniversary)… Local schools maybe?

I don’t know about anyone else but that baseball game is one of my happiest memories of Goodison.

The last season at Goodison and we are commemorating a baseball game in 1924.

A very, very tenuous link with baseball. In reality, it's just the colour; the rest is fairly standard Castore fare. Our third kit from last season looked more like a baseball jersey than this.

They could have used the Yankees' style heritage logo. In my opinion, we should use that logo on all shirts (minus the shield).

That's a great idea, Gerry, should get that over to the club somehow.

The kit might do well over here in the States, shame it's not easily available at retail stores.

I like it, particularly the subtle verticle stripes, looks classy.

Obviously I won't be buying it, cos you'd have to be insane to pay those prices for the utter shit being produced by our kit partners.

The season ending in 1924, we finished 7th; the following one 17th. That's with 24 teams in the old First Division. So in 2024, we are worse. But that's no real shock.

If the 3rd kit looked like a baseball one, that would be supercool. But we missed that opportunity too. Nothing improved or that gets you excited. That applies to the third kit as well.

Unsure.

Personally, I'd liked to have seen Amber Blue Amber.

All our kits are as uninspiring as the football we play - so entirely right & proper for us really.

This one looks like a white one that went through a colours wash.

Martin (10),

There were only 22 teams in the First Division.

Wasn't that John McGraw's Giants? Well okay then.

Wait, Mykolenko is left-footed but right-handed?

..."The last season at Goodison and we are commemorating a baseball game in 1924."

The history of Goodison should contain as much history as possible, especially a centenary celebration that few other clubs can boast, even down to the old Toffee Ladies circling the pitch with those Everton Mints!

Didn’t we do an American shirt one year?? I’m sure I remember a denim ish shirt?

Dale # 14… .Mykolenko is left footed but right handed…

Funnily enough, I am left-handed and when I was playing, had a much stronger left foot than my right foot, yet if I were to hold a cricket bat or a golf club, I would hold it the same way as a right-handed person, but any racquet, eg, tennis or squash, I would hold left-handed.

Don't know how all that came about? Weird eh!

History, all we hear is bloody history. I'm on my own I know.

I prefer my 1981 Hafnia shirt I had when I was 11. The long sleeves were ace, along with the collar.

Baseball now... jeez!

We haven't had a cream-coloured shirt since 2010. As a collector, I will buy all three shirts but I'll wait till next year when the prices come down.

Yes, that historic baseball game that everyone still talks about.

Remember it like it was yesterday. The 9th inning was nail-biting.

I quite like all the away or 3rd shirts and normally. A chance to have a bit of fun. Home kits are predictable. These Castore away kits are a bit bland though, boring.

It's a white / cream top with badge and sponsorships, who's getting paid to come up with this "exciting” 3rd kit??

I thought Hummell made some excellent kits, never bland always surprising.

And here’s me hoping they were going to commemorate the historic 1893 World Tiddlewinks final.

The club should do something to commemorate the 1966 World Cup...

To our US Evertonians, please take this as light-hearted banter.

Baseball? Rounders with bigger bats!!

It's what me and my fellow British counterpart used to say to our US counterparts.

Don't know who Leeds kit manufacturers are, but there is absolutely nothing on their second kit to indicate that it is Leeds playing.

The only strip with anything to say it's Leeds is the goalkeeper's shirt, which has the Leeds club badge on it. All the outfield shirts have that what I would say was a smiley face on them.

Long time listener, first time caller. Hello to everyone on ToffeeWeb.

As an Aussie Evertonian, I've had the opportunity to go to bed and wake up with this kit on the mind. The history of this club is so important to the fans and, with it being Goodison's last season, the first purpose-built football stadium in England, I feel they've missed the mark again.

I grew up with stories of Alan Ball's white boots, the 1966 FA Cup Final, the 69-70 Championship, and the glorious ‘80s.

There's so much to draw from, it's incredible really.

So we've got a black kit I'm not sure when we can wear – if the Royal Blue is a clash, black is not going to be much of a better contrast, and this cream one which looks poor to me.

What is wrong with the old Amber and Blue we used to have? You would only need the two kits then.

Well, I've been a Blue all of my 65 years, and I never knew we hosted a baseball game at the Old Lady. And two of baseball's giants to boot.

Incredible we really are a club of firsts, World Cup games here, home internationals – the iconic old girl has done it all. Alas, she's looking her age now but may she rest in peace.

Never ever knew that but personally we could have our 3rd kit in avocado – as long as we win games, I couldn't really care less.

Billy Shears #21... snap!

My earliest jersey, not counting the retro ones, was the pyjama away top from 1989 (I think)...and it still fits! 😎😎

I like this one but the prices are scandalous.

US soldiers also used Goodison to practice their baseball during WW2…

My grandad was born and raised on Goodison Road and would tell me stories of how he would hold the baseball bats for US soldiers while they practiced at Goodison and they would give him pieces of chewing gum.
