John Textor, the American billionaire currently engaged in talks with Farhad Moshiri over a potential takeover of Everton, is reportedly preparing the ground for an initial public offering for his Eagle Football Group.

Sky News report that Stifel and TD Cowen have been tasked with preparing an IPO to the US stock market for Textor's company which holds a majority stake in Olympique Lyonnais, Botafogo and RWD Molenbeek and 45% of Crystal Palace.

Textor has been trying to gain full control of the South London club or, failing that, offload his shares so that he can proceed with purchasing Moshiri's 94.1% stake in the Blues but, while an IPO could help him raise $500m in further capital for that acquisition, Sky's sources suggest that the former Executive Chairman of streaming firm FuboTV is planning on initially investing in Everton personally rather than through Eagle.

He would still need to either dispose of his Palace holdings entirely or bring them under 10% in order to buy into Everton and it is Sky's information that Raine Group are working on the sale, with two interested but unnamed parties "capable of executing a deal rapidly."

After the 2000s we had more disappointments than joys.

The situations for EFC seem to be terribly more difficult. Even so, we continue to love this miserable Club.

So John Textor is about to float his sports and technology companies along with Eagle Holdings and hopes to raise around $2B. I don't know what this means in terms of him taking over us.

Anyone have any ideas what this means for us. Good or bad?

Access to more capital has to be a positive, either personally or through his company.

Paul... it's Everton.

It'll be bad!

Textor going public with Eagle and increasing his Media profile is a attempt to sell Eagle Shares and increase his borrowing capacity.

Any Everton deal would come under increased scrutiny if successful, before being finalised.

Only for bad luck we would have no luck.

Sky Sports are saying that Textor is going to place his Eagle Football company on the market in New York and is expecting to realise £1.7B (might be $ not £).

Any views on how this might affect his supposed purchase of Everton? Can placing his shares on the market shortcut anything or are we in the same place as we were yesterday, ie, waiting for a sale to take place before anything can happen?

This further info about the above is contained in the following piece published by Sky News.

Everton suitor Textor to file plan for $2.3B Eagle Football float

Sounds to me that his efforts to muscle his way to a majority shareholding at Palace has been abandoned and that he may well be seriously after Everton. We shall, as usual, have to wait and see.

I have a bad feeling about this guy. Please Friedkin group come back in asap.

Paul Quinn, The Esk, doesn't think Textor is cash rich enough, ie, a bona fide £billionaire, to buy Everton.

I wonder if Friedkin will come back. The criminal stuff doesn't seem to bother Textor.

Textor is reportedly worth £3.7B, hardly poor. He's also expecting to raise around £2B when he floats his business.

I think The Esk is wrong on this one.

Jack @11. Please explain a little why you don't feel right with him. Genuine question, but do as far as Friedkin is concerned, as I can't see a great deal of difference between them.

Okay, he seems as though he has thrown his toys out of the pram at Palace because he couldn't buy his way to a majority holding. We don't know the circumstances, legitimate or not, behind that so I think that we, as observers on the outside, shouldn't be critical.

Are there other reasons?
