Everton have signed 16-year-old midfielder Justin Clarke from League Two club AFC Wimbledon, after paying a 'six-figure fee' to secure his registration.

Clarke has come through the Dons’ academy and made his debut aged 15 when coming off the bench in an EFL Trophy clash against Wycombe Wanderers. In doing so, he became the London outfit’s youngest player ever.

He will join Everton Academy's U18s where a group of fresh faces are starting the season under Leighton Baines in the U18 Premier League.

Welcome son. As you're a Womble can you please clean up the mess, that's Everton Football Club. If you do you'll be a Super Womble, Wombling Free and give us all a great Wombling Merry Xmas.

I'll get my coat.

Seriously good luck lad. Hopefully we'll get to see you, in the 1st Team one day.

It is entirely possible this is the best signing of 2024. Until we have money to compete with other Premier league clubs, this is our best way to build a quality side. Welcome Justin and I hope you are a cracking player.

I received a link to the Wimbledon press release from a womble-supporting friend.

Nicely written. (The accompanying message from my friend less so)
