Season › 2024-25 › News Moyes has liberated Everton from the Dyche straitjacket and is reaping the rewards 01/02/2025 7comments | Jump to last Richard Jolly writes: "[David Moyes] has had a transformative effect that has made a mockery of the suggestions Moyes is similar to Dyche. The Scot shares a pragmatic bent but shows a greater willingness to attack. “'The players have just given themselves a bit of confidence and positivity,' said Moyes, downplaying his own contribution. "But he has liberated Everton from the Dyche straitjacket. Rampant and buoyant, they have been 3-0 up at half-time in consecutive games at Goodison. Given the context, the scorelines could feel surreal." » Read the full article at The Independent Reader Comments (7) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. A great start for the new manager. Its like a breath of fresh air. Long may continue.Onwards and upwards. Pat Kelly 2 Posted 02/02/2025 at 11:44:07 Dyche said he had taken Everton as far as he could. He was right. His one-dimensional brand of “football” stymied the players. Moyes has unlocked their potential and confidence. Paul Kernot 3 Posted 03/02/2025 at 02:21:33 I'm the die hard blue. I read every bit of news every single day plus every game without fail, but those last couple of months under Dyche, even my resolve was being tested. It's easy to see how brainwashing works. I really started to believe these players were as crap as Leicester were today. Don Alexander 4 Posted 03/02/2025 at 02:46:02 Is it just me or are there others out there who more regularly than ever find themselves needing to give their own head a wobble when it comes to accepting the modern day antics of people in charge of what we rightly love, namely national security, the NHS, the abhorrence of poverty/unemployment, the Premier League, VAR, life-long erections, and the never-ending pontification of what does or does not happen at Finch Fucking Farm? Si Cooper 5 Posted 03/02/2025 at 03:43:44 Couldnt DM be ‘similar to SD in that they share a ‘pragmatic bent but also have the greater willingness to attack? How much do journalists get paid? Alan J Thompson 6 Posted 03/02/2025 at 05:34:49 Under Moyes there has been a resurgence, a winning run with an improvement in the standard of football. If this can be continued then the job should remain his but it is not yet a handful of games and there was a lot of support for Dyche supposedly twice being responsible for beating off relegation, let's see what an extended run brings. If the owners are all another American on here rates them to be (and would that depend on Trump's tariffs?) then they will have long term possibly alternative plans and it would be interesting to know if they thought that Moyes was the only immediately available manager and therefore the short term, if they have/had somebody else in mind long term and how they went about it with their Italian interest. Who, if anyone, did they turn to for advice on this appointment, unlikely to have been say Arteta or Cahill as they might not have been seen as without favour, possibly Thelwell but we are not likely to know at least in the near future and would they have consulted the club's other senior executives whose own positions may not be secure. Some might say that movement in this transfer window might be an indicator but that is unclear with a DoF and with regard to PSR.For me, the obvious, long may this much needed improvement continue and should that be so then we know who it will be for the next 30 months, but maybe a little patience might be wise. John Raftery 7 Posted 03/02/2025 at 21:55:02 I think David Moyes is a very good manager and was the best available last month. I am wary of going overboard at this stage though because apart from Aston Villa game, the fixture list has been kind with two home games against feeble opponents. Lets see how we perform in the next couple of games. Win one or both of those and I will be convinced he really has transformed an underperforming group.
