Season › 2016-17 › News McGeady secures Deepdale loan Lyndon Lloyd , 31 August, 17comments | Jump to most recent Aiden McGeady is the second player to go out on loan today, with an agreement reached with Preston North End for the Irish international. The 30-year-old has been frozen out at Goodison Park and has been looking for a move away but has been unable to secure a permanent deal. McGeady, who still has a little under two years left on his contract, spent part of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and is now heading back to the Championship for the season with Preston. The confirmation comes a few hours after Shani Tarashaj joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan and at the same time as Academy defender James Yates's five-month loan switch to Crewe. Leandro Rodriguez, who was apparently told he could leave the club, remains on the books, as does Oumar Niasse. Disclaimer Mark Morrissey 1 Posted 31/08/2016 at 21:11:12 Best of luck. Gordon Roberts 2 Posted 31/08/2016 at 21:16:43 Poor attitude, not a team player. Hope it works out for him and we never see him again in an Everton shirt. Brian Cleveland 3 Posted 31/08/2016 at 21:26:43 Bit harsh, Gordon, why do you think he has a poor attitude? Maybe not the greatest player, but I've not noted any poor attitude, just not up to scratch. Anthony Dwyer 4 Posted 31/08/2016 at 21:43:12 He's a useless clown who is fat and never fit, that's generally considered a bad attitude for a footballer. Sajid Patel 5 Posted 31/08/2016 at 21:52:05 He's not the worst player that's ever played for Everton. He scored a blinder against Leicester.I just found him to over do it with the ball too much a bit like Del Boy! Joe O'Brien 6 Posted 31/08/2016 at 21:57:55 Great news... and I'm. Irish. Need Niasse to go now too. Denis Richardson 7 Posted 31/08/2016 at 21:58:35 At least we save some of his wages. Best of luck to him, we took a cheap punt and it didn't work out.Unlike Niasse! Kristian Boyce 8 Posted 31/08/2016 at 23:33:35 Every cloud has a silver lining today. Getting him out makes up for all the other screw-ups. Steve Hartwell 9 Posted 01/09/2016 at 00:02:30 This is the only thing that's made me smile today. Just hope/wish they're paying all his wages but I imagine I'm in cloud coocko land with that. James Stewart 10 Posted 01/09/2016 at 00:42:54 One of the worst players we signed since the Walter Smith era good riddance. Rob Baker 11 Posted 01/09/2016 at 06:50:03 One of the poorest transfer windows ever and worst deadlines ever. However shipping McGeady out for a season loan did make me smile too. Jack Convery 12 Posted 01/09/2016 at 06:52:55 Thought he would go to Wigan. Derek Knox 13 Posted 01/09/2016 at 08:16:15 Great news, it's just like a new signing! He should ever have come in the first place, but apparently Roberto thought the sun shone out of his arse, and where's he now? I arrest m'case, m'lud.Very quiet transfer window closure, as far as we are concerned, but I think we dodged a bullet with Moussa Sissoko, for £30M I don't think he would have been the answer. In Ron We Trust.COYB Robert Leigh 14 Posted 01/09/2016 at 09:20:39 Glad McGeady has moved on, he tried but just isn't up to standard. Russian window closes on 6th September so I assume Niasse will still be gone.I think if you compare our team now vs last season, we have got stronger this window:2015-16Howard; Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines; McCarthy, Barry; Deulofeu, Barkley, Mirallas; Lukaku. Subs: Robles, Funes Mori, Oviedo, Besic, Cleverley, Lennon, Niasse.2016-17Stekelenburg; Coleman, Jagielka, Williams, Baines; Gana Gueye, Barry; Bolasie, Barkley, Mirallas; Lukaku. Subs: Robles, Funes Mori, Holgate, Besic, Lennon, Deulofeu, Valencia. That's an improvement surely AND for near-enough a zero nett spend. Joseph Mullarkey 15 Posted 01/09/2016 at 11:24:15 Just can't fully scrape this fat turd off our shoe. We will still be paying a large portion of his wages and I doubt he will be a success. Expect to see his Ford Mustang riding into Merseyside again soon. Andy Meighan 16 Posted 01/09/2016 at 19:57:32 I thought he might have gone to Belgium. Jeff Armstrong 17 Posted 01/09/2016 at 22:38:24 McGeady proved to me what an imbecile Martinez was. He pulled off a bit of a trick with Shaun Maloney when he took him to Wigan, revitalised his career and he became a cup winner. Then he basically tries to repeat the same trick with McGeady... short, fat winger, lost his way a bit, Gaelic background, etc etc. Thing is, he was a completely different fucking person! It doesn't work like that Roberto, you knob! You should have just signed Maloney again, you divvy.
