Match Summary
Everton finished fourth in the Premier League Asia Trophy, picking up the Wooden Spoon after failing in yet another penalty shoot-out. Welcome starts for Simon Davies and James Beattie, recovered from their minor knocks. And Iain Turner played the whole game in goal, in what was otherwise almost a full-strength line-up from David Moyes. Everton went behind in the first half when Andy Cole scored after 21 mins. Tim Cahill equalized before half-term with a trademark header that was ruled offside. The second half saw James Beattie level the score from the penalty spot after his header had been handled by Sylvain Distin. Weir also got the ball in the net after coming on in the second half but it was also ruled out as the game went to penalties. Moyes rolled the changes in his line-up for the second half, but gave no exposure to the new kids on the block, who sat this one out. Wier's shot was saved, as was Bent's and Everton lost yet another penalty shoot-out.
