FA PREMIER YOUTH ACADEMY LEAGUE
The FA Premier Youth Academy comprises one Youth League team at Under-18 level. There will be a parallel set of friendly games playing the same fixtures at Under-16 level, but they will not count towards any league table
The new set-up for the FA Premier Youth Academy has four or five regional groups of 10 teams each:

The season starts with some inter-group matches against teams from the farthest (geographically) regional groups. For Everton, that meant a game with a team each from Groups C and D. Everton then played three teams from the closest Group A.
For the main part of the season, Everton play each of the other teams in their local Group, both home and away. They finish up playing each of the other teams in Group A again, giving 28 matches in all.

Everton felt the award of a spot-kick to the home side on 15 minutes was dubious but Theo Robinson shrugged off the protests to slot in the opening goal. The lead was doubled on 20 minutes when Ewan Clarke capitalised on more sloppy play in the Everton defence.
Despite being two goals down, Everton did play well on the counter attack during the half and Kieran Agard, Matt Elder and Morrison all had chances to reduce the deficit. This mission was complete 10 minutes into the second period when Morrison put in a cross that was deflected into his own net by a Watford defender. But with thoughts of a comeback at the forefront of their minds, Everton's defence switched off again and just two minutes later the visitors were caught out and Liam Henderson scored the third to restore the two-goal cushion.
Halfway through the second half, Morrison provided further hope of a fightback with a free-kick that flew in from 25 yards. Despite having more than 20 minutes in which to press for an equaliser, Everton had to wait until the final minute for their best chance. Outstanding prospect John Paul Kissock set it up with a mazy dribble that led to substitute Michael Cleary being teed up but he blazed his effort over the bar.

Striker Kieran Agard opened the scoring with his second goal of the season after an excellent move between Agard, John-Paul Kissock and Dax Hoogerwerf ended with the London-born forward scoring with an excellent chip over the Boro keeper. Everton doubled their advantage soon after through England youth international midfielder Lee Molyneux. Boro then hit back from a corner as Shaun Densmore headed into his own net, then they equalised with seven minutes left.

Everton saw numerous chances go begging, with Stephen Connor, Dax Hoggerwerf and Kieran Agard all going close. Steven Morrison saw his free-kick saved superbly by the visitors' keeper; then, on 65 minutes, Forest took the lead. No equaliser was forthcoming and Forest doubled their advantage to make sure of all three points with five minutes to go.

Everton started well and went ahead when Irish youth international defender Dennehy scored in the fifth minute, heading in from Lee Molyneux's corner. Scott Spencer and Kieren Agard had chances but failed to capitalise from opportunities inside the six-yard box. Derby made them pay when they equalised with eight minutes left, scoring the rebound after they had headed a cross against the post.

It appeared the match would end goalless, until Everton broke the deadlock. London-born forward Kieren Agard fired in on the run from 25 yards after good work from England youth international Lee Molyneux. But United equalised with six minutes left and again Everton had to settle for a point.
Manchester City 1 - 1 Everton

The match began badly for Everton as goalkeeper Lee Crockett felt ill in the warm-up and was replaced by Jamie Jones, himself only just back after injury. Then after 10 minutes defender Jack Rodwell was carried off with a suspected broken leg - happily those fears were later allayed. Despite that Everton were the brighter side for much of the match. They went behind against the run of play midway through the first half when a lofted ball caught their defence flat-footed and the City forward ran on to score. In the second half they finally scored after Ryan Harpur's clever free-kick was finished off by sub Dax Hoogerwerf, almost with his first kick after coming on. Everton were denied a winner in the last minute when Agard was played in by John-Paul Kissock, only to see the goalkeeper save superbly.
Stephen Connor has a thigh strain and is a doubt for the derby. Still out are Matty Elder, Aidan Downes, James Hall, Geoffrey Imudia and Cory Sinnott.

Everton Under-18s are still looking for their first victory of the FA Premier Premier Academy League season, but at least they could take comfort from schoolboy Jose Baxter's debut goal and battling display after going two goals down. The young forward is from Bootle and as a 14-year-old became Everton's youngest scorer at U18s level this season and one of the youngest since the Academy system was formed. Sadly it was just a consolation when he netted from close range late on after Shaun Densmore has done well on the wing and put in an excellent low cross.
The visitors were also two goals up at that stage. They struck twice just after the break, the first a stunning 30-yard strike and the second from a defensive error from a corner.
Bolton Wanderers 2 - 1 Everton

Bolton took the lead after just five minutes with a shot looped back at goal from long-range after a clearance, and it left Everton keeper Jamie Jones unable to do anything to stop it. Everton had numerous chances. Aidan Downes couldn't find the net with a shot, while defender Darren Dennehy saw a header cleared off the line. Stephen Connors and Kieran Agard went close while Ryan Harpur saw two efforts from distance well saved by the Bolton keeper.
But Everton finally equalised through Agard on 65 minutes. The London-born forward put the finishing touch to an end-to-end move which began with keeper Jones and was finished smartly with Agard's turn and shot. Everton pressed for a first win but neither substitute Matty Elder nor Scott Spencer, who had a one-on-one with the keeper, could find the breakthrough. Stephen Morrison hit the bar with a free-kick but, with Everton in the ascendancy, they were caught late on by a sucker punch as Bolton secured all three points with a last-minute strike.
Blackburn Rovers 2 - 2 Everton

A debut for new Academy import from Australia, Mike McEntagart, stepping in for Jamie Jones, who has a broken finger. Midfielder John-Paul Kissock is finally back in action after a month on the sidelines with a knee injury. Kissock picked up the injury in last month's derby with Liverpool.
Early on, neither side fashioned too many chances and the first half ended goalless. But in the second half Everton were the dominant side and substitute Stephen Connor helped they switched to a more attacking 4-3-3 formation, finally opened the scoring on 73 minutes when Kieran Agard chipped the Rovers keeper after Kissock's initial effort had looped up in the box. But the home side levelled six minutes later when Everton failed the clear as the ball broke loose in their own area.
Republic of Ireland defender Darren Dennehy restored Everton's lead, controlling then volleying home after John Irving has flicked on a free-kick with seven minutes left. But more defensive hesitation right at the end of the match allowed Blackburn to score a second past Everton's new Australian keeper Mike McEntagart on his debut.

Kieran Agard was on hand to fire home after goalmouth scramble midway through the first half to secure all three points and the Under-18s' first victory of the season. Agard was quick to react and prod home after Stephen Connor cross eventually rebounded out off the keeper. Lee Molynuex had a couple of good efforts from distance go close, while substitute Matty Elder headed straight at the keeper. Aidan Downes had two chances after good work from Connor with a header and one he shot just off target. And Irish defender Darren Dennehy also headed just over after a corner.
Stoke City 2 - 2 Everton

Stoke opened the scoring against the run of play after an excellent tackle by Darren broke loose rather fortuitously to allow the home side's centre forward to score on 20 minutes. But Everton hit back five minutes later when John Irving powered home a header from Steven Morrison's corner. A mix-up between Australian keeper Michael McEntagart and his Everton defenders allowed Stoke to regain the lead after the break. But Everton piled on the pressure and finally levelled again when Stephen Connor capitalised on a goalkeeping error to follow up after his initial shot came back to him to grab a point for his side.
Everton 3 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Everton took the lead on 20 minutes when Kieran Agard set up Densmore to fire in from 20 yards. It was 2-0 by half-time with Harpur's vicious swerving shot from distance leaving the Wolves keeper slightly embarrassed. he game was all but over early in the second half when England youth international Molyneux fired in a quick free-kick.
Everton are expected to be almost at full strength for the final two matches of the year. The only absentees are long-term casualties Cory Sinnott and James Hall, although Aidan Downes has withdrawn from an Irish Under-19s International match with France due to an ankle injury.
West Bromwich Albion 2 - 1 Everton

A sluggish start meant Everton had to chase the game. West Brom took the lead after 20 minutes before Matty Elder scored an excellent individual goal which ended with him chipping the home keeper to level on 60 minutes. Everton pressed for the winner and had the chances.
Irish youth international forward Aidan Downes had a good header saved, while substitute Stephen Connor had a couple of decent opportunities. At the other end Everton keeper Jamie Jones saved superbly to keep the visitors level. But in the dying minutes West Brom scored the winner against the run of play.
Crewe Alexandra 1 - 1 Everton

With the wind against them in the first half, Everton were naturally on the back foot, but generally defended stoutly. It seemed they would hold on but just before the break Crewe took the lead. A powerful wind-assisted 30-yard strike gave Everton keeper Jamie Jones no chance as it flew into the top corner. \
Everton had much of the match in the second half and eventually equalised midway through when Steven Morrison fired a free-kick into the top corner from 20 yards.
Everton 1 - 1 Bolton Wanderers

In the first half, Everton had a lot of possession but failed to take advantage of their superiority. Both Kieren Agard and Aidan Downes went close in to opening the scoring, but it wasn’t until the second half that Everton were rewarded for their efforts. Irish youth international defender Darren Dennehy played in Connor, who cut in from the wing ahead of the his marker to score. The Wirral-born wide man almost scored again soon after, but this time his fired over the bar.
Bolton pressed for an equaliser, and they drew level as John Irving saw a cross from the left deflect off him and past keeper Jamie Jones. Agard went close to a winner, while at the other end Bolton hit the post.

Everton broke the deadlock after 30 minutes when Irish youth international forward Aiden Downes powerfully headed home from Shaun Densmore’s superb cross from the right. It wasn’t until 15 minutes into the second half that Everton doubled their advantage. Striker Kieran Agard reacted quickly to score after a goalkeeping error following a cross allowed to prod home from close range.
Despite several more chances Everton did not make it 3-0 until late on. Scott Spencer’s strong run into the box, ended with him drawing the keeper before squaring for Geoffery Ilmudia, to coolly slot home his first goal for the U18s.
Manchester United 2 - 0 Everton

Kieran Agard saw one effort saved while Republic of Ireland youth international defender Darren Dennehy headed over following a corner. His central defensive partner and England schoolboys captain Jack Rodwell was similarly off after another corner. The home side took the lead on 30 minutes, despite appeals for offside.
John Irving failed to get his effort on target following another corner, while Aidan Downes also failed with another chance. Jose Baxter, on as a second-half substitute, also went close, but United sealed the points in the last minute when they scored the second from a free-kick.
Everton 1 - 3 Manchester City

City opened the scoring from the spot on nine minutes after Everton defender Ryan Harpur handled the ball from a cross. But Everton fought back to level matters when Kieran Agard latched onto a Shaun Densmore through-ball to score into the bottom corner on the half-hour. Soon after the break, Agard drew the keeper to set up fellow forward Aidan Downes, but he fired his shot straight at a covering defender on the line. Then just after the restart Downes returned the compliment to put Agard in one-on-one, but a poor finish allowed the City keeper to save comfortably.
City went ahead again soon after. Midfielder Paul Marshall fired into the top corner from 25 yards when Everton could only half-clear an initial attack. Within five minutes City added a third with a Ben Mee header following a misjudged punched clearance from keeper Jamie Jones. Everton had chances to get back in the match but couldn’t breach the City defence.
Liverpool 1 - 1 Everton

Missed chances, including twice hitting the woodwork proved costly for Everton. Lee Molyneux saw shot from distance saved, before Liverpool led on 35 minutes through Craig Lindfield.
In the second half Everton equalised four minutes after the restart as Downes scored. England youth international defender Jack Rodwell started the move and when John Paul Kissock played in Irish forward Downes, he rounded Liverpool’s keeper to score. The Irish youngster then saw a volley came back off the post. The woodwork denied Everton again through Molyneux. It was their 10th draw of the season and again highlighted their problem of converting chances.
Sunderland 1 - 2 Everton

Everton dominated much of the first half, but didn’t create too many clear-cut opportunities in testing conditions. And they were made to pay when the home team scored after Stephen Connor was caught on the half-way line and the Sunderland attacker ran through before scoring with a rising shot on 15 minutes. Everton striker Scott Spencer went close to an equaliser but his shot hit the post.
But sub John Paul Kissock helped Everton come back as they levelled the scores through Connor. He won possession after pressurising the home defence to coolly finish. Everton pressed for the winner and finally Molyneux provided. The midfielder is very good in deadball situations and and despite the keeper getting a hand to his latest effort he couldn’t keep his free-kick out.
Everton 0 - 1 Sheffield United

Everton were not quite as fluent as they have been and although they had the majority of the possession, they didn’t create enough chances to get anything from the match. Attackers John-Paul Kissock and Kieran Agard were both rested as they had featured in the reserves defeat at Manchester United earlier in the week although Agard did come on to try and rescue the match late on.
Rodwell had to go off with a hamstring strain and could be out for a couple of weeks. That means he may miss the trip to France with England at the weekend to compete in the prestigious Montaigu tournament. Sheffield scored the winner with 20 minutes left when they took advantage of some slack defending to score from 20 yards past Everton keeper Jamie Jones.
Everton 1 - 1 Blackburn Rovers

Everton lost 16-year-old centre-back Jack Rodwell in the warm-up with a recurrence of a hamstring injury, and failed to settle following the blow. Blackburn opened the scoring with a stunning dipping shot from 25 yards after winning possession in midfield.
Dewsnip brought on U-16s player Danny Redmond for Stephen Morrison. From then on they dominated, without creating too many clear chances. They did grab an equaliser in the second half when a corner ricocheted in off John Irving. But Everton couldn’t find the finishing touch to grab all three points.
Barnsley 0 - 2 Everton

Scott Spencer saw his first shot saved after he broke into the box after just two minutes but Morrison was in the right place to score from the rebound to give Everton the perfect start. But that all changed as both Densmore and Harpur fell awkwardly on the firm surface and had to be replaced within the first 15 minutes by 15-year-old forward Baxter, who played in central midfield, and Hall, who has only recently returned from a long injury lay-off himself.
It took a while for Everton to settle, but once they did they controlled the match and Kissock doubled the advantage with less than 10 minutes left when he latched on to pass from Aidan Downes before slotting home.
Everton 2 - 0 Sheffield Wednesday

Kieran Agard was put through one-on-one with the Wednesday keeper following good work from Ryan Harpur and Shaun Densmore, with the latter sending the London-born forward in to open the scoring in the 35th minute. Agard almost had a second, but headed Densmore’s cross just wide. Then Jose Baxter had a couple of chances before capping a good performance when taking Ryan Harpur’s pass in his stride and chipping the keeper from 30 yards. Schoolboy Moses Barnett, who had recently joined Everton from Arsenal, was also handed his first debut as a sub for Matty Elder.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 - 2 Everton

With several players having played the previous night in the reserve derby defeat to Liverpool, Wolves took the lead and then doubled their advantage soon after. Everton also had to readjust after Jose Baxter was forced off with an injury to be replaced by Kissock. The substitute combined with John Irving to set up Irish forward Aidan Downes, who reduced the arrears with five minutes before the break. Everton equalised with 15 minutes to go through a superb 25-yard free-kick from Morrison. Substitute Agard almost snatched a winner with two efforts late on but in the end they had to settle for a well-earned point.

Steven Morrison scored his second goal in as many games when he gave Everton the lead from the penalty spot on 20 minutes after Kieran Agard was brought down. Then 10 minutes later John Paul Kissock scored a superb individual goal to double the lead. Magpies forward Glenn Reay scored a close-range effort to reduce the arrears against the run of play just before the break.
The visitors' hopes of a comeback looked to be dashed 10 minutes into the second half as Kissock scored a second after Agard forced the Newcastle keeper into an error and his team-mate pounced on the loose ball to finish it off. But with four minutes left Jonny Godsmark gave Newcastle hope to bring the score to 3-2 and deep into injury time Reay scored his second to claim an unlikely point.
Everton ended the season in sixth place in the North West Group C table 35 points behind runaway winners Manchester City.

Everton had the majority of the possession and the play throughout the 90 minutes and were full value for their comfortable win, breaking the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Johann Davidsen rose highest from a corner kick to head the ball home. After the break, they doubled their advantage when Scott Phelan stroked home a penalty. A wonderful ball from Davidsen found John-Paul Kissock, who was felled in the box, leaving the referee no option but to award a spot kick.
The third was the pick of the goals; Lee Molyneux curled a free kick over the wall, the ball cannoned off the underside of the bar and into the net. Everton had further chances to extend their lead but James Dunn, Bjarni Thor Vidarsson and Phelan had no luck in from in front of goal.
