Martinez hoping he'll figure over Christmas period
Everton could have Leighton Baines for part of the busy Festive programme as the fullback continues his recovery from a fractured toe.

Roberto Martinez says it is too early to tell whether he will be available for Sunday's trip to Swansea but has been impressed with the speed of his progress.

Baines sustained a fracture to his toe — it was initially feared to be a metatarsal break — in last month's Merseyside derby and has so far missed the matches against Stoke, Manchester United, Arsenal and Fulham.

"I always said I thought Leighton would recover quickly and he's been doing really, really well," Martinez told evertontv. "But obviously it's a bit early yet to see if he's going to be available for Sunday.

"I think we'll see over the next few days, but what is great to see is that Leighton is feeling better every day, that he's desperate to come back and that the squad is desperate to see him back.

"What we're hoping is that he's going to be fit for the Christmas period."

The Blues will play five games in two weeks between the clash at the Liberty Stadium and the FA Cup tie with QPR on 4th January.
