Everton's Under-18s ended 2013 with a disappointing 2-1 reverse at Middlesbrough. The Teesiders came from behind to hand the young Blues a second defeat in a week.

It looked promising for the young Blues when Harry Charsley produced a clinical finish to put his side ahead after just 15 minutes. The Toffees made several further chances but couldn't extend their slender lead.

In the second half Everton weren't as incisive in possession and Boro capitalised, winning a penalty just five minutes after the restart. The equaliser sting Sheedy's men back in to action and they forced a number of further openings.

Bit instead of taking the lead, they fell behind. A defensive error allowed the home side to snatch victory.

Everton U18s: Griffiths; Birch, Connolly, Langton (70' Walsh), Thorniley (70' Robinson); Shannon, Williams, T Duffus; Charsley Dowell, Dyson.
