Everton unveiled Aiden McGeady as their first signing of the January transfer window prior to the kick off of this afternoon's game against Norwich City after the 27 year-old put pen to paper on a 4½-year contract.

The club were able to hammer out a deal with the Irish international's former club, Spartak Moscow, that brings him to Goodison Park this month rather than waiting until the summer when his contract expires.

The fee is officially undisclosed but is believed to be a compromise on Spartak's initial €2m asking price.

A right-side winger by trade, McGeady offers pace, trickery and Champions League experience but admitted in an interview before he took to the field to be paraded before the faithful that he is short on match fitness having not played much in the past month.
