Everton's rather young Under-21s had quite a game at the Reebock this evening, finally coming out 3-2 winners over Bolton thanks to goals from Luke Garbutt (an early penalty) Matty Kennedy (from close range) and a 25-yard stunner curled into the top corner by Conor McAleny.

Everton had to thank Springthorpe, who brilliantly saved a penalty, and the woodwork as Bolton rattled the bar late on.

Everton U21s: Springthorpe, Touray, Garbutt, Ledson, Pennington, Browning, Kennedy, Williams, Hope, McAleny, C Duffus (78' Charsley).
Subs not Used: Griffiths, Jones, T Duffus, Dyson.
