Season › 2013-14 › News Barkley forced off with calf injury Lyndon Lloyd , 31 March, 0comments | Jump to most recent Ross Barkley was withdrawn at half time of today's 3-1 win over Fulham because of a calf injury, Roberto Martinez has revealed. The 20 year-old had tried to run the injury off after visibly hobbling out of a tackle midway through the first period at Craven Cottage but his manager decided not to risk him for the second half. Barkley's replacement, Steven Naismith, was instrumental in putting Everton ahead just five minutes after he was introduced, prompting David Stocksdale's own goal and he wrapped up the points with a late strike after Kevin Mirallas had made it 2-1. Martinez did go into details regarding the severity of Barkley's injury but the midfielder will be assessed this week ahead of the showdown with Arsenal at Goodison Park next weekend and the manager said he hopes he will be available.
