ToffeeWeb Player of the Season

The battle for whom TW readers felt was Everton's best player of the season predictably came down to two players who had outstanding campaigns: James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman, with the latter of the two Republic of Ireland internationals winning the poll handily.

The 25 year-old has weighed in with seven goals in all competitions from right back and has cemented his credentials as the best player in his position in the Premier League by being named in the PFA Team of the Year last week.

Costing just £60,000 when he joined the Blues from Sligo Rovers five years ago — a bargain not lost on Evertonians who have now enshrined that excellent piece of business in a terrace chant — Coleman has become an vital component in Roberto Martinez's more expansive Everton team and his consistency this term is reflected in the accolades now coming his way.

Coleman collected 48% of the 6,000+ votes in ToffeeWeb's Player of the Month vote, with McCarthy a solid runner up with 30%. Gareth Barry was third with 8%.
