Ledson and Kenny score crucial penalties
Everton youngsters Ryan Ledson and Jonjoe Kenny both scored penalties for England U17s in Malta this evening as the Young Lions beat The Netherlands 4-1 in a penalty shootout to win the European Championships.

Chelsea striker Dom Solanke put the Young Lions ahead against The Netherlands, the team who topped England's group in the first phase, after 25 minutes but Jari Schuurman levelled the game just before the break.

The two sides couldn't be separated in the second half which brought up automatic penalties after 80 minutes and it was captain Ledson who led the way for England by scoring the first penalty.

Newcastle's Freddie Woodman saved the Dutch youngsters' first spot kick, Taylor Moore and Callum Cooke then scored for England and Everton's Kenny banged home the decisive penalty to win the tournament for John Peacock's side.

It's the second time in four years that England have lifted the U17s Euro trophy; Ross Barkley and Luke Garbutt were in the Young Lions side that won the tournament in 2010.
