Everton to play Bangkok friendly

Everton will travel to Thailand to play newly-promoted Premier League side Leicester City in Bangkok next month. The Blues will face Nigel Pearson's men at the Suphachalasai Stadium in the Thai capital on Sunday 27 July 2014, kick off 6pm local time (12pm BST) as they prepare for the start of the 2014-15 season.

Both clubs have strong links to the South East Asian country with the Toffees about to enter the 11th season of a shirt sponsorship deal with Thai-based brewers Chang, while the Foxes' main partner is Thai travel retailer group King Power.

Everton last took part in pre-season action in Thailand nine years ago when they competed in the Premier League Asia trophy against Manchester City and the Thai Under-23 national team. Colin Harvey also took his Everton team to Thailand as part of their pre-season programme in 1989.
