2014-15 home kit to be unveiled on Wednesday

Everton have announced that the full reveal of the new home strip will happen on 25th June.

The kit, designed and manufactured by Umbro, the company to whom the club have returned after a spell with Nike, will go on sale next month.

An image purportedly of the new home jersey has been leaked featuring the dark trim that was expected based on rumours a few weeks ago but could just be a training top.

Lots, Chris, becuase white socks are popular and, apparently, in our DNA. And before any bugger tells me, yes, I know we wore a ruby sash in the 1800s, so maybe we should wear ruby red now?

Everton are synonymous with Royal Blue Shirts, White Shorts, White Socks. Of course that massive club Leicester City may have told us to bugger off as they want the white socks this season.

It was only in the mid 1960s that we started wearing white socks and since then it has probably been 50 / 50 whether they be white or blue. The most prominent colour of sock on our kit through our 'history' is blue. Anyone who believes we've always worn white and as such its 'in our DNA' is misguided.

Mike, I don't need anyone to tell me about our history, and I know we have often worn blue socks, sometimes with a white top. But we're not synonymous with black socks with which the new kit has been shown on one site.

It's the club that go on about our DNA. And then foist a scabby badge on us like they did last year.

I don't mean the opening line to sound too harsh despite how it reads.

To be fair to Umbro they usually always made nice Everton home kits, the only bad exception I can remember was the 1997-98 pale blue horror show which almost got us relegated.

I think the black is s nice refreshing change to be honest, yes white socks are more Everton but what's wrong with a little bit of change?

Personally I would quite like to see us one season go all blue, shirt, shorts and socks, I believe it would make us look more imposing, like when we won at Old Trafford last year..

Nice kit though nevertheless.

Nothing special, not very good, not very bad. I like the badge though... I would like to see stripes for a change, something like this one:

I surely isn't that! Horrible! I do like a black trim on the collar and sleeves but that is boring! Barkley looks like a super-imposed barbie version of himself!

Are the socks black or navy blue? I thought the collar looks navy blue and Im assuming the socks will match the collar? I quite like the kit in the picture but navy blue would be better than black. Even better would be the striped blue socks à la 1995!

Think that's part of the training range, has Umbro on each sleeve and I don't think that's allowed in the prem.

I thought that kit we had in 1995 was real classy, the blue and black hoop socks and that light blue and black collar thin stripes on the shirt, loved that one, I even got Kanchelskis 17 on the back of it.

I know loads of people like Everton in the white shorts and socks but sometimes change is good, I often thought we had way too much white on our kit, especially when the shirt had bits of white on it..we started looking like Birmingham City.

Are we giving a nod to the tax-man as Rangers wear blue shirts, white shorts and black socks - then again they have red on the tops of the socks.

Better to be in the black than the red I guess....

I clearly remember our shorts in the 50s to early 60s as being white with a blue side stripe. There was some controversy when the stripe was dispensed with. Around that time the FA ordered told our keeper to wear the same coloured shorts as his team mates. Up to then our keeper traditionally wore black shorts.

Over the years our socks have regularly changed their style. Bottom half, blue; top, white; bottom half, white: top blue; all blue; all white.

I have to say my best ever was the cup winners strip in 66. Blue shirt with no badge, blue socks with white tops. Marvellous!

We could be wearing a Rangers or blue Man Utd kit next season and Leicester could be wearing an Everton kit which would probably have most fans looking forward to a return to our proper colours for the following season.

Although the kit Barkley is modelling looks quite nice it doesn't look like an Everton kit but I shouldn't be surprised – last season, we didn't have an Everton badge.

Yes, Alan, he did, and goalies all wore a green top due to hardly any teams wearing a green shirt as first choice. Yellow was reserved for England, as I remember.

Re shorts: John Devlin in "True Colours" writes "Everton were actually the first club in Britain to introduce a stripe on the leg of the shorts, way back in the 20s"

Looks average. I'd have preferred it if the collar was white as it would make it stand out a bit. Doesn't seem to be much thought into it, if it really the official kit.

Dick, I was always pretty sure that the yellow was kept for international sides. The green was, as I say, used mainly because so few teams wore green and meant keepers didn't need to change. Black shorts were always the order of the day, too.

Absolutely gutted about the black trim on the new kit. Whether it be socks or on the shirt, Everton to me should ALWAYS wear Blue shirts White shorts and WHITE socks at home and Amber Shirts Dark Blue Shorts and Amber socks away from home (a la The Holy Trinity). if they have a third kit (which they hardly ever wear) then make that Black

Stop tampering with our kIt. I absolutely knew Umbro would do some thing like this I really did!

Everton colours are BLUE & WHITE... NOT Blue White and Black.

I bet if they put it to a fans vote a la the new badge then WHITE socks would win hands down ALL DAY EVERY DAY (and Amber away kit).
