Everton in the Community have launched a new Walking Football programme, Walk of Life, aimed at recruiting men and women aged 30 – 50 and 50 plus who are wanting to keep fit, have fun, learn skills and socialise at the same time.

Walking Football is a non-contact sport with one main difference to standard football; no running! As the name suggests anyone that sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play will be penalised with a free kick awarded to the other team.

The programme is open to members of the media to get involved and try the variation on the ‘beautiful game' which will be rolled out in centre's across the country by the end of the year.

If you think you can be the walking football finisher, the walking midfield general or the colossus walking football defender come along on Monday 8 June at Lucozade Powerlague, 2 Whittle Street, Kirkdale, Liverpool, L5 2SQ and take part.

The activity will begin at 13:30 with Everton in the Community's Programme Leader Stuart Carrington and programme participants available for interview.

Participants from the event will come from Liverpool Community NHS Trust's Liveabilty Programme. The Trust is supporting Everton's official charity coaches to deliver sessions to their participants.

Apologies in advance to everyone concerned with this programme and with Everton in the Community. Hope it was a success.

Meanwhile, Everton have launched a new Walking Football programme, Walk of Life, aimed at recruiting men and women aged 16 – 35 plus who are wanting to keep fit, have fun, learn skills and socialise at the same time.

Walking Football is a non-contact sport with one main difference to standard football; no running!

As the name suggests anyone that sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play will immediately be instructed to pass the ball to the opposition to keep the game flowing or if that is too difficult, straight into touch – plenty of recent examples form gifted players like Deulofeu, Mirallas and McGeady. Who can forget the fine example of how to kick a free kick straight into touch provided by John Stones.

This is Everton's variation on the 'Beautiful GameÂ’ which was successfully launched at Goodison Park in the 2014-15 season, when several players were nominated to take part in initial trials. The full programme is to be rolled out at stadiums across the country by the end of the year.

Everton are currently looking for new players to add to the squad.

Can you be the walking football finisher like Lukaku, the replacement for the walking midfield general, Gareth Barry, or a colossus walking football defender with the ability of The Rock, Alcaraz?

Walking Football? No, donÂ’t tempt me... too easy a target.
