Duffus signs on for two more years

Everton U21 striker Courtney Duffus has joined a number of his teammates in putting pen to paper this summer on a new contract that ties keep him to the Blues until June 2017.

Now 19, Duffus is in rehabilitation for a knee injury that prematurely ended his 2014-15 season but he revealed to evertontv just how close he came to making his senior bow in the Europa League last season against Young Boys in Bern before John Stones's dismissal forced a rethink by Roberto Martinez.

"I was just made up to be there to be honest," he said. "Hopefully I can pick up where I left off when I get back fit and be challenging to get in that first team again."

Duffus is expected to be fit again by September.

I like this lad, seen him play a good few times and he's got all the attributes to play the lone striker role. I hope the injury doesn't affect his progress and he continues to develop.

Seems to be on the score sheet on a regular basis. Good to hear he was getting close to a first team run out, that's always a positive sign.

It's always such a shame when an injury holds up the development of a young player. Hopefully he uses the time to focus his mind rather than lose it.

Regards to Mrs Duffus who I know has commented on TW before!

Lovely lad I'm sure, not convinced his shirt sales will be up that high though!
