Interesting read. I see McAleny came on. Does anyone know his situation. He hasn't been given a squad number but can he play as a 'younger' homegrown player etc.

Ian, I think McAleny was wearing 67 on his shirt in this game. Judging from the video, they were all wearing shirt names and apparently assigned squad numbers. Those who had played in the previous EFL Trophy match at Bolton were wearing the same numbers.

Nothing about these on the official site, but McAleny did have the squad number 35 for the last three seasons, and has now slipped down the pecking order to 67 if this is correct. I guess that kinda fits with his fall from grace but I don't know the back story.

Maybe Dave Abrahams does...??
