The Blues' skipper was the only Everton player selected by Gareth Southgate for the World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia but has now been forced to withdraw. Jagielka has been ever-present in the Premier League for Everton after recovering from a hamstring injury that restricted his participation in pre-season and should recover from this latest concern in time for the trip to the Etihad Stadium on 15 October.
