Everton's Under-23s earned a comfortable victory over Portsmouth at Southport this evening in the Premier League Cup thanks to goals by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Calum Dyson and an own goal by Portsmouth defender Tom Davies.

David Unsworth's Premier League 2 leaders got off to a good start in the first half when Calvert-Lewin rounded the goalkeeper to slot home with a quarter of an hour gone.

Everton had their own Tom Davies patrolling midfield to good effect but it was his namesake on the other side who inadvertently doubled the home side's lead when he diverted the ball into his own net in the second half.

Dyson made it 3-0 with a header off Harry Charsley's cross before Harvey Bradbury plundered some reward for Portsmouth's late rally with what proved to be a consolation goal.

Everton U23s: Hewelt; Kenny, Jones (45'Feeney), Browning, Connolly; Davies, Walsh (32' Broadhead (85' Sambou)); Charsley, Dyson, Dowell; Calvert-Lewin.
Subs not Used: Renshaw, Evans.

Another win for the group of young lads who aren't ready for cameo roles in the Premier League. 😏

Was Liam Walsh's injury, I am presuming he was injured, serious? He was substituted in the 32nd minute.
