Lukaku 'not interested' in overtures from China

According to a report in Belgium, Romelu Lukaku is being courted by big money in China but the striker won't be tempted.

Het Nieuwsblad suggest that following Axel Witsel's move to the fledgeling Chinese league, Lukaku is one of five Belgium internationals to have been offered lucrative terms in the Far East.

Both Lukaku, whose European Champions League ambitions are well known, and his agent Mino Raiola have apparently rejected the notion out of hand.

That's a shame as we could have done with the silly money transfer fee as it may be we need money before we spend... as per bloody usual with Everton FC.

And yes, I am getting pissed off with Everton's transfer dealings!

Can the Chinese take our other Belgian players! I am sure we can make Cleverly, Kone, McGeady and Gibson sound Belgian to the happy go lucky Chinese leagues!!

Lukaku may be a lot of things but he's not stupid or unambitious. Why on earth any player in his prime would move to China is beyond me.

And before anyone says "Who wouldn't treble their salary if offered?" – these guys are multi-millionaires already with more money than they can spend in one lifetime.

James (@3) – Multi millionaires or not, who still wouldn't treble their salary if offered. It certainly warrants consideration.

It's such a simplistic argument to say "Oh, they already have enough money". For what? What might they want to achieve? What is "enough money"?

Lukaku represents everything wrong with Everton Football Club in this era – a preening, posing nonentity only interested in himself at the expense of the team.

Him and his gobshite of an agent are being indulged by Kenwright at our expense.

Get rid and start getting in players who would be proud to play for us and maybe put in a bit of effort occasionally.

I'd drive him to the airport myself but his agent can fucking walk.

Yeah, OK, I guess Rom's goal every two games is totally unimportant to the team's success.

We've got lots of guys who can do that.

Fact is, we have a boatload of players who are "proud to play for us" but who couldn't find a goal with a telescope.

I'll take Rom all day, attitude and all. But then, I like goals. And winning.

Mike Gaynes (10) - fans like you have clearly forgotten how little he runs. Give me Denis Stracqualursi any day, now there's a player with a great attitude who will run all day. In fact we could save 㿞m and put James McCarthy up top, he'll run all day too.

You got that right, Nick. And you're forgetting about the hardest-working, toughest, most tireless warrior of them all... one who had shown tremendous goalscoring prowess in his youth.

I'll always blame Moyes for playing Hibbo out of position. Heaven only knows how many goals we lost out on.

I was unaware that Lukaku has been our striker for the last 22 years. What a lack of ambition on his part to stay at this club for 22 years without winning a single trophy.

All of you Lukaku naysayers, who you going to replace him with? The only players in the Premier League that consistently outscore him are Costa and Aguero.

They are not bad, Len, 'Slow boat to China' is one of my favourites. I wish Lukaku would take one as long as we get 㿼M for him, and the money is all spent on new players.

I honestly think the little tiddlies would wear him out? Lukaku, super goalscorer, but he needs a rest every-time he does a couple of sprints, and the heat might just get to him.

He would do well in China against all those has-beens from all over the world.

His lack of celebration after scoring a goal in the FA Cup tie tells you all you need to know about his attitude. He is the only Everton player in my 55 years of being a blue that I really dislike.

Isn't it true that Keegan has told Lukaku to run even less as we need our forward in the right place and full of energy when a chance does present itself? I don't recall Gary Lineker running round like a headless chicken...
