It was more good news for the 20-year-old who has just returned to action following a year of injury frustration and he started for the Blues' second string in their win over Southampton at Goodison Park earlier this week. Williams, at one time a rumoured transfer target of Manchester United, suffered a knee injury in May last year and then had his attempted comeback ruined by damage to his ankle last November. “I'm over the moon to sign a new contract,” Williams told evertontv. “I've been here since I was seven years of age and I've supported Everton all my life. “It's been a hard year mentally and physically but I'm happy to be back playing and to sign this contract has topped it off. He's just returned from a long injury lay-off and anyone who watched the televised Sounthampton U23 game recently will have seen that he needs time to build his match fitness up.
