Season › 2017-18 › News U23s lose last pre-season game to Brentford B Tuesday, 8 August, 2017 9comments | Jump to most recent Everton U23s lost their final pre-season friendly by the odd goal in seven to a strong Brentford B side at USM Finch Farm on Tuesday. Jack Kiersey's square pass on 21 minutes allowed Nathan Broadhead to score from 12 yards out and level for the Blues to cancel out Theo Archibald's opener for the Bees. Pawel Zuk went close for Everton shortly before half time as did Sam Byrne early in the second half but Michael Forss then put Brentford back into the lead and Zain Westbrooke extended it via a free-kick from the edge of the box. On loan winger Anton Donkor made it 2-3 before Danny Bramall set up Broadhead for his second to restored parity again at 3-3. It was the visitors who finished the stronger, however, as Herson Alves struck the winner. Everton U23: Renshaw; Bramall, Connolly (45' Feeney), Gibson, Garbutt (45' Foulds) Bowler (45' Byrne), Kiersey (45' Denny), Markelo, Zuk (45' Donkor); Broadhead, Evans. Disclaimer Thomas Surgenor 1 Posted 10/08/2017 at 15:16:22 No Jonjoe in the team? Be interesting to see if he is in the squad for Friday night. If not... he could be starting with the big boys on Saturday. Peter Gorman 2 Posted 10/08/2017 at 17:40:20 Interesting mix that team, some very young kids in there from the U18s. Dave Abrahams 3 Posted 10/08/2017 at 19:36:05 Did any supporters see this game? If so, how did Gibson, Bowler, Donkor and Markelo perform? They were all brought to the club in the summer. Brent Stephens 4 Posted 10/08/2017 at 19:43:54 Dave, it was a "closed" game, invitation only. I'll get you in next time for a year's supply of Chang! Apparently Bill bunked into the Boy's Pen at Finch Farm. Dave Abrahams 5 Posted 10/08/2017 at 19:56:51 Brent, it's hard to get to Finch Farm if you don't drive, which I don't, but next time there is a game there if you drive, give me a lift and I'll talk or cry our way into the game!!! Brent Stephens 6 Posted 10/08/2017 at 19:59:01 Dave, I'd gladly give you a lift (crozzy) but my conversation with Everton told me there was no way I was getting in. Dave Abrahams 7 Posted 10/08/2017 at 20:06:01 Brent (6) crozzy, a bleedin' bike, with your name, Brent! I thought you'd have nothing less than a Rolls! Ssorry I asked!! Brent Stephens 8 Posted 10/08/2017 at 20:14:09 Dave, the bike is a Giant (unlike me). It doesn't go up hills the way it used to Parbold Hill a killer. The Rolls stays in the garage not to be used on plebs! Dave Abrahams 9 Posted 10/08/2017 at 20:34:08 Brent (8) plebs, I'll plebs you, hang on, that's it, I'll get our Tony to take me, thanks for the tip Brent Add Your Comments In order to post a comment, you need to be logged in as a registered user of the site. » Log in now Or Sign up as a ToffeeWeb Member — it's free, takes just a few minutes and will allow you to post your comments on articles and Talking Points submissions across the site.
