U18s beat Swansea in Premier League Cup

Everton Under-18s coach Paul Tait hailed his side's “aggressive” approach as they battled to victory against Swansea City in the Premier League Cup at USM Finch Farm.

Fraser Hornby's second-half brace was enough to secure a 2-0 win for the young Blues, who remain top of their group with maximum points from two games played.

The hosts had initially struggled to break down a resilient and well-disciplined Swansea backline in the opening 45 minutes.

However, after a tactical switch at the break and the introduction of Hornby, Tait's charges began to find their rhythm. And, after going close on a couple of occasions, it was the substitute who turned home twice to make himself the Toffees' match-winner.

This is a new competition: the Under-18s Premier League Cup.

Here are the goals:

Apparently we beat West Brom 1-0 in the first group game, back in September.

Michael, I know I'm a bit late asking but any chance of naming the team for this game.

The reason I'm asking is Everton have been drawn to play Ipswich in the FA Youth Cup and the lads who beat Swansea will more than likely play versus Ipswich. Thanking you in advance.

I wish I could, Dave. Searched high and low but nothing on line. More sources are now listing the line-ups for the U18 League games, but these games are odd.

The official Everton website, which claims to track the U18 games, did not even list the first game in this new U18 Premier League Cup competition, where we beat West Brom back in September. I did find the teamsheet for that one and posted it here.
