U23s vs West Ham called off due to fog

Everton U23s cannot resume their faltering Premier League 2 campaign against West Ham in Southport tonite due to heavy fog.

The Blues have slipped to 4th in the PL2 Table with losses to Liverpool and Leicester City since their last win at Swansea City back in October. That was the only win in a poor run stretching over the past 11 games in all competitions, most of which were played without David Unsworth, who had stepped up to take on the role of caretaker manager before Sam Allardyce was appointed.

Tonight's match would have been their last in 2017, with something of a mid-winter break coming up for the young Blues, whose first game in the New Year will be against Barnsley in the Premier League Cup on 3 January 2018.

A break huh, must mean Bolasie and McCarthy only as the senior set-up has an option to play in real matches. Bring on any of them if in any case at all we're three goals up or two in the final 10 mins in a home match.

It's saying in the Echo that it will now take place at Finch Farm.

What's with the spelling of 'tonight'? I predicted it'd be the next one to change in the dictionary.

Sorry, that was my bad. Just another example of bad 'Merican habits creeping into my bastardized English language:

'Tonite' is often used in advertising in the entertainment industry in the United States, for example on signs outside theaters displaying the evening's performances. 'Tonight' is almost always used in most other contexts such as academia, politics, news media, etc. (uncountable)

You could also start reporting on Everton Wimmin. I don't know who has most to answer for, Koeman or Webster

Game has now been called off due to heavy fog. It was being played behind closed doors at USM Finch Farm.

Michael, I think "Nite" has been used for years, in Ireland at least, in the context of a Nite Club, but I've noticed the word creeping into everyday writing.

Pedantic perhaps on my part.

Michael, Any chance you can flag these U23 games early? I often don't know they're on now until they're over.

Whatever happened to the idea to extend Finch Farm, build a mini stadium and have the Under-23 games there? Have they done any work or extended it yet? I know the plans were altered a bit when Bobby left.
