Everton have announced that Valenica will be the opponents for the traditional home pre-season friendly, on 4 August 2018.

With Marco Silva about to be announced as the new Everton Head Coach, this is expected to be his first game in charge of the team at Goodison Park.

Valencia, managed by Marcelino, finished 4th in La Liga last season and go straight into the Champions League group stages for next season. Valencia's leading scorer was Rodrigo who struck 16 times last season with Goncalo Guedes, on loan from PSG, providing nine assists.

Valencia's visit will be Everton's final game before the start of the new Premier League campaign a week later.

We’ve just announced Valencia as the big home game friendly. Let’s hope we do better than the Seville game which was the first warning sign of the season to come. Valencia at home is a good game to play. It’s winnable and will give confidence going into the season.

Optimistic 1st post Steve. Champions League team visiting a team getting used to new coach and, hopefully, higher energy playing style. Looking forward to just watching an actual game of football at Goodison, rather than what we have been watching.

Not quite Barcelona, like I want every season... but not bad. They are a good team and will test us plenty.

Hoping some of our other pre-season matches are against such quality opposition.

We really need to improve on the pre-season games. Last year set the tone for the season.

A Champions League team, what more can you ask for? A couple of more of that caliber in late July and the new Everton team set-up is set for the Premier League season.
