Season › 2019-20 › News Hansen and Anderson agree pro contracts Thursday, 4 July, 2019 5comments | Jump to most recent Nico Hansen at Finch Farm Under-18s goalkeeper Nicolas Hansen and defender Joe Anderson have signed their first professional contracts with Everton Hansen, a 17-year-old USA youth international was rewarded for his progress since moving to Everton in 2017 and he has signed a two-year deal. “Signing this deal is a proud moment for me and my family,” he told evertonfc.com. “It's everything I've been working towards these past two years. “Since I first arrived here, it's been fantastic. It's been like a family. It's a great environment to be in and everyone is so supportive. “Now I just want to repay the support the Club has shown in me by becoming the best goalkeeper I can be.” Anderson, meanwhile, put pen to paper on a one-year deal and is hoping to make the step up from the Under-18s to the Under-23s this season. “To sign a professional deal for such a big club, you can't ask for any more,” he said. “It was what I've dreamed of as a kid. “My game has come on a lot since I joined Everton. At every level you are challenged, there is healthy competition for places and it improves you, because every player is giving it everything. “Now I want to have a solid pre-season and, when I get a chance to play, to show what I can do. I want to pick up where I left off last season.” Reader Comments (5) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Disclaimer Andy Riley 1 Posted 04/07/2019 at 19:57:49 No issue with this and pleased for both of them but how is it we can presumably get work permits for under 18s from the USA but not older players from elsewhere? Peter Gorman 2 Posted 05/07/2019 at 00:40:01 Guessing there is a Danish passport in the mix. Minik Hansen 3 Posted 05/07/2019 at 02:57:43 Best bid of business for me with Hansen! ;) Hoping to cheer on our future goalkeeper, will be on the back of my future shirt, that's for sure :D Of course all the best of luck to Anderson as well. Stale Haverstadlokken 4 Posted 05/07/2019 at 09:50:47 We haven't a great history of promoting young goalies to our first team. Who was the last one? Peter Gorman 5 Posted 05/07/2019 at 14:02:08 Stale, we have next to no history of promoting goalies. I think Iain Turner and John Ruddy made about half a dozen appearances between them and it is doubtful they can even be called youth team players. There is always a first time though. Perhaps Minik will get his wish and young Hansen can be our Casillas.
