Everton's biggest fan on what Blues must do to win trophies again and why they can't blame others

The Liverpool Echo interview Dr David France as his beloved Everton face up to their longest-ever silverware drought.

For me it's quite clear where the decline started. It was the day that the late John Moores got poorly and could no longer be a hands-on member of the club.

I think the thing that we need to win more than anything is the respect of the other people in football. That's what has changed.

It's taken me decades to come to terms with the thought that Liverpool are more successful than us. That I'll concede now but I don't concede that Manchester City, Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur are more successful than us in any way.

I might be living in my own little world here in the high deserts of Arizona but we've been trivialised.
